Yep....that's about here in Nor Cal too and the one you pictured is in nice shape! Many of the 8 and 9N's here for that price are very weathered and been beat on...but Nor Cal is mostly rural and farm land, contrary to what most think.

UPDATE! I went by Doug's after work today and looked at quads. Good to see him again since I moved, and we had a great chat. I said I'd been nosing around at a ranch quad...and he agreed that other than my occasional snow factor in Winter, a 4X2 should be fine. He then said, "Don't downplay the GY6 motor!" and let me ride one that his kids have beat to heck over the years. Surprisingly potent....but I'm still not sold on it or the belt CV trans for my hauling needs.

We then looked at the Tao Tao GC 300 water cooled model. There was also one that had the standard pushrod 250 (223?) 169FML motor. I was most interested in that one as we know that motor is cheap to fix and bullet proof.....BUT....then he showed me another model he had, and this is where I need YOUR input, fellow China Riders....

It was a physically larger quad. Still 4X2. I asked if it was also a Tao Tao. He pointed at the others with the 169FML and the CG 300 and said, "Those are Tao Tao. Nice quads....but these ones are 'xxxx' (I forget the brand) and they are much nicer built. More heavy duty. Look at these welds. More like a Q Link or SSR." Then he started comparing suspension, pointing at stuff...showing me the differences, like larger ball joints and stuff. I was impressed. It was physically larger by far, had excellently powder coated racks front and back, welded metal guards on the front control arms....and the welds were clean and smooth. Almost Japanese. It also came with a tow hitch installed and a winch hanging out the front.....plus it was actually 100.00 less expensive than the TaoTao 300!
Now.....(drum roll please)....it had the 169FML motor in it. The Honda clone pushrod motor....but it was water cooled! Same motor with a smooth head and water pump on the right side. He said it's been a GREAT motor.....and has yet to replace a water pump.
Any input on these anyone????? I've never even seen one before.....
