P.S. I'm happy to report my J.C. Whitney Travel Trunk is still performing well after many thousands of miles.
The metal mounting plate for this trunk is very tough. The travel trunk also employs a metal locking mechanism. The hinges are a bit weak, but I have replaced them with clevis pins on one of my travel trunks. If you can get one shipped to Peru, I can definitely recommend the J.C. Whitney Travel Trunk.
