As far as the front forks go, a little thicker oil will increase the dampning and some spacers made of pvc pipe will pre load the springs by placing under the fork caps.

Try the Yamaha R6 rear shock. I got one off ebay for 20 bucks delivered.

The top mounting hole is 10mm instead of 12mm. Eye to eye is the same. A little softer spring rate, but much more travel.

I had Buchanen's custom make some spokes for my bike a few years ago. If i recall corectly, they were about 3 or 4 bucks apiece. took about 1 week.

Lots to like about that bike! I like the wide seat, gold rims and overall looks. The only minor drawback I see is a front fender that appears to be oversised.

The only thing I can contribute is that the gear position indicators are not nessesary. There is some wiring there that is vital though.

Any idea what model bike the donor engine came from?

70 bucks seems kinda pricey to me. If it were me, I would get some C-channel and cut a "V" notch on the sides and bend up. Weld the notch back up and anchor the same as the store bought rail.
