TT250: Extreme problem replacing foot pegs - spring issue

Just got the TT250 and the pointy-sharp billet aluminum (I think) fancy foot pegs. Pulled off the one stock one and for the life of me cannot get the new one on.

Looking for Keima carb pilot jets for TT250

Each 10mm you go down on a shock is roughly 1" lowering at the seat. If the bike comes with a 320mm, a 290 would be roughly 3" of height reduction. From what I understand.

THe one thing it doesn't really say is how far forward should the adjustment make the engine case lever? Just to the point of resistance met or further or some slack at the arm?

Adjusted it forwards towards front of bike just until resistance was met then tightened down both nuts. Top perch is screwed all the way in.
