Yes give it some play otherwise it will lock up when hot. Then you get to sit on the trail and wait for it to cool off. That or pee on it!

I have a Hawk that does not like to start when warm. I find a combination of clutch, wiggle gear shifter and start button generally works. Just make sure you can jump the starter first.
