Good to know that Hippos are still around. They're a good product, and large enough to fit over most handguards. In fact I think they work best with hand guards.

In comparison, the Oxfords are...

Oxford Rainseal Handlebar Muffs

I can recommend Oxford Rainseal Handlebar muffs, assuming you don't have handguards on the bike and want cold weather protection. They are similar to Hippo Hands but more aerodynamic, less problem...

RX3 rust free

One of my concerns when I purchased my RX3 was whether bolts, fittings, etc would be prone to corrosion. I've only had the bike for five months but it is stored outside under a cover and has gone...

I'm responsible for at least 25,000 of those hits. This site is one of the great things about RX3 ownership. Thanks again Spud and Weld!

I'm not too taken with the idea of a Ninja-derived AT. I would like to see KTM build an AT version of the Duke 390. That could be impressive, but it would be thousands more than the RX3.

New Rocker Headlight Switch

Spud, that's a great fix. The main objective of my initial post was to alert RX3 owners to the dead spot issue so they aren't riding around with their headlight off. I had planned to live with the...

Headlight switch dead spot?

Good suggestion on repairing the switch, Adjuster. I take it you checked yours and determined that it can't get stalled in a "dead" position? If that's the case, I may contact CSC about a new...

Dead spot in headlight switch

After my riding buddy pointed out that my RX3 headlight was occasionally out, I checked the operation of the headlight switch. I found that if I moved it halfway between low and high beams, the...

Had a Chat With Gerry Edwards

I had a minor tech question on my RX3 and contacted CSC last week, leading to a call from their new Service Manager Gerry Edwards.

Right from the start of the conversation, Gerry was interested...

New issue of Motorcyclist has a one page "Short Shift" review of the RX3. Aside from faulting the relatively weak brakes, the mag concludes that the bike is "surprisingly good," "totally competent,"...

Backfire and Stalling?

I have about 500 miles on my RX3 and life is good so far. However I do have a slight backfire when I close the throttle (as in when I upshift). Separately, I very occasionally have a engine stall...

Local RX3 Owners Threads?

Are there currently any forums/threads to help RX3 owners in specific US localities identify other local owners -- if they want to be identified? I belong to a forum for a different bike which has a...

Defeating locks

This is so easy even I can do it. Just remove the screws that secure the latch plate, (on the lid, not the box body). Remove the plate and store it for future use. I've done that on my muffler...

I notice CSC has a couple of recommendations. On the oil change tutorial it suggests the first oil change should be at 200 miles. But then Joe's blog recommends changing the oil before starting the...

Secrets of valve adjustments

We all know that the RX-3 uses screw and lock-nut adjusters to set valve clearance. This is one of the features that makes the bike owner-serviceable, since you don't need a set of shims and you...

Break-in oil?

I really enjoyed Belamoto's photos of the uncrating process. Also sounds like CSC's tutorial was helpful in assembling the bike. Which I would expect: CSC did a really nice job laying out the...

But what's going to...
