Mine won't start without the clutch pulled in. It's a safety thing to keep it from starting in gear. I agree with monkeyboy, sounds like it fixed itself.

Took the cap off and tried it but now it's not trying to fire at all. Is there an automatic gas shutioff and is it fused? I'm thinking that my problem may be electrical.

I'm not sure...I bought mine off Ebay and the ad only said that it fits the YZ/CR/RM/KX round exhaust. I'm about 35 miles from my bike right now otherwise I could look at it and give you the model...
