I've been trying different roller weights and for me riding at 4000' to 6500' 12 gram rollers work best. I've tested 14 gram and 16 gram rollers, and 14 gram sliders. Stock rollers weigh 12.5 grams.

Valve lash wouldn't be the cause. Maybe carbon build up in the combustion chamber? If it has a timing chain it may have an automatic compression release on the cam that wasn't engaged.

I would use standard metric bolt torque specs. Google metric bolt torque specs and you'll find PDF charts.
