cali compliant ???

What exactly is done to a ATV engine to make it cali compliant ?

Does it have any negative effects on performance or reliability or engine life?

Can it be deleted without causing negative effects and bigger headaches?

Many Thanks,
Creek.

Well, because this is the China Riders forum I will assume one thing about your question. I know a lot of Chinese ATV's come Cali compliant for a few reasons, so with a general inspection, you can make an educated guess.

There will be feedback hoses off the exhaust somewhere that feed through some valves, filters, possibly 3-way junctions and back into the air intake.
China actually has some of the strictest pollution control laws on earth required for their vehicles but who complies after buying said vehicle is surely criminal. Between being obliged to manufacture them like this to sell there and huge markets like California, I believe virtually every brand has manufactured them to be Cali compliant for at least a decade.

My X-motos dirtt bike has all the same emission recycling hoses, filters and junctions as my Pentora-Raptor clone. The dirt bike was built and purchased 15 years ago, the 4-wheeler a little over a year ago.
