lifan 110cc with little power
 

I have a 110cc lifan with 4 speed manual. I have cleaned and adjusted the carb but I still can't get it past 21mph. Does anyone have any ideas to what would make it run sluggish. It has a 19mm carb. Is that carb big enough?

The Lifan 110s I've put in old Trail 90s would max out at about 50 mph but you don't say what kind of machine it's in. Small motorcycle, quad? Some things that come to mind are restricted exhaust, restricted air intake, brakes sticking, who knows. We need more information. The 19mm carb should be big enough.

Its on a small pit bike. The brakes are not sticking. it seems to be pushing air out of the exhaust good.

Ignition timing could do it but that is usually not adjustable. Partially sheared flywheel key could do it. The cam chain being one tooth off could certainly do it.

What would be a good size jets for the carb?

No idea but if the carb is original I'd stay with whatever is stock until you get it running better.

BTW have you checked to see that the throttle slide is opening all the way?

When you say you've cleaned the carb, does that mean that you removed the main and slow jets, and ensured that they aren't partially blocked?

Yea, I took all the jets out and made sure they were clean. I was thinking about a 22mm carb. Do you think the 24mm would be better on a 110?

The larger carb is not needed on a 110 ,the pz19 carb generally runs well enough .What exhaust do you have ? Is it properly sized for the 110 or is it from a 50 or 70 cc bike?

Again, I doubt that it's actually 24mm; probably more like 19mm. It's just a decent casting, and new jets will be easy to find.

Now you have me questioning my bike. I had an original 49cc with the 19mm carb. I changed to a 125cc with a 22mm carb. I have never touched the original exhaust. Is this something I need to look into? How can I tell if I need to purchase new or modify my exhaust?

I picked the bike up used. The pipe that is on it is about 1 inch across and the muffler is like the ones on a go cart. I want to change out the exhaust just not sure to which size.

That's true for the jets. I went to my local motorcycle parts place and as soon as I said what it was. He acted as if I offended him and had no parts for me.
