Reconditioning Apollo 250

That is a nice video; thanks for posting the link.
I am always impressed by the strong frames on these Chinese motorcycles. :) |
What a frustration that carb is! :grr: I can't believe that they took the time to shave the fasteners. You're gonna love the Mikuni.
Your bike is the most advanced that I've seen so far; I've never seen a removable subframe before your video. You can use the existing airbox and filter cage with bulk Uni filter. it's good stuff, and you can usually find it at the local bike shop. I use Maxima Fab1 spray oil on my filters. It goes on blue and sticks like cobwebs. Instead of buying a bolt kit, I bought assorted stainless socket head cap screws from a local fastener supplier. My thinking is that I can carry an allen wrench, rather than sockets or combination wrenches. Plus, I'd rather have stainless. Is that a stainless header? Have you set the valves yet? |
I think it is a stainless header.
I have not checked the valves yet its on the list, but there is no excessive top end noise. More to come. Dave |
That's the reason to check valves. In Spud's words, slappy valves are happy valves.
|
It's cool that you got the stainless header. Another China rarity.
|
Indeed, I love stainless steel, exhaust headers, and insist on having one for all my motorcycles.

great video
Awsome vid
ill deff be changing the spark plug. Im trying to replace anything that will improve performance. Over all the bike is great. When i 1st got the bike the idle was so off i couldn't keep the bike on. The only problem i have is the bike doesn't kick start right away. Why would that be? |

I'm using the stock pz30 that came with the bike.
You recommend for me to get a muniki carb. Is it hard to adjust jets |
Right, I forgot that you showed us pics of the carb in your thread.
|
The only thing you can do with the stock carb is adjust the main needle up and down, or replace the jets, and adjust the idle air screw. There are no other adjustments on the stock carb. To adjust the main jet needle you have to drill out a rivet on the top cap before you can unscrew it.
|
got you.
Ill order the new 30mm carb. will that come with the correct needle already and they just have to be adjusted? |
It should I am scheduled to get mine on Monday, and will let you know. On another note I pulled the Carb again and found that the needle is not adjustable on the slide valve of this carb. This is truly the least adjustable carburetor ever.
|
yeah i was looking at it last night also.
ok great i ordered mine this moring let me know how it works out pls. |
