The Mad*** is coming back

Excalibur is bringing a container or more of the Madass 50cc scooter; Wade Liu is currently in China overseeing the manufacture of his batch of bikes. The two things I see as negatives--price and small engine. I imagine if interest is there, Excalibur will pick up the 125cc version later on, unless there is a conflict with whoever had the rights to the bike the last time? I was not able to speak to Mr. Liu about any details, but their site is updated with the bike, as well as the intriguing Renli dune buggies (unrelated to scooters and very expensive!)

For pricing, here is an add from a retailer regarding the Madass:

One could easily buy a 125cc engine and bolt it into place.

I like the way you think, Allen.

I have seen 140cc Lifan pitbike engines somewhere or another for under $300 if I recall correctly. On advrider, someone showed photos of a 50cc madass converted to real bike status with a 155cc Zongshen. These bikes look like fun, but I have read that they are very uncomfortable to ride.

I really like that platform, and I'd love to try one with a 125 or a 140.

I've read that once you go beyond 125cc in a horizontal motor, you need an oil cooler. That could be a bit of a packaging concern.

As Kczukiman mentioned on his TMEC thread, Wade is back from China and these should be here in the next few months just in time for winter :)! He did make a layover in Taiwan as well and that might result in some high quality bikes soon to come through Excalibur's warehouse, but that is in the early stages and I won't mention what possible brands, etc.

The Madass is growing on me, too, and Wade said he rode on an enduro at the Sachs factory in China as well. He said it was a 250, great looking, and I think it is this bike http://www.sachs-bikes.cc/show_product.asp?id=213 . He was not impressed with the engine's power, or engine quality, as he stated it would not go into neutral easily and had little low-end power, and he has enough to do with the TMECs, so don't expect a Sachs enduro :(

I think this is answers the question of mucho power for the Madass, although we won't get them anytime soon:

So the 50 and 125 Madass we will get here soon are what we will have to deal with! The 50cc would be of my main products in the perfect retirement business for me--a scooter rental business in Hawaii (combined with 'Brand X' from Taiwan if the deal goes through)

I am more interested in the UTV vehicles at the moment. Here they are street legal. Would be a good market if you can get the name out. Mostly John Deere, Polaris, Yamaha, and Kawasaki.
