Kpr 200 OBD port?

Does this motorcycle have one? I don’t seem to see anything about it anywhere and the search function in here is saying there are no threads even about kpr so it might not be working right for me.

Yes it does but will require an adapter. The KPR also does a self diagnostics and will flash the codes. Instructions and information are in the owners manual.

Thanks man. Had to look it up online. Only got the quick guide I guess

The information is on page 29 of the owners manual

The KPR does not have a standard OBD port. It has a diagnostic port, but it's for a Lifan proprietary scanner. For whatever reason the KPR still uses the old 'Lifan 8.0 EFI system' and not the newer 9.0 that the rest of the Lifan models use. Even the KPM with exactly the same engine has the 9.0 system with the standardize red OBDII EURO 4 plug. I did notice on the new (09/22) EPA spreadsheet, there is a new application for the 2023 KPR. Maybe they changed it on the new ones??

Apparently, there are no laws in the US that stop companies like Lifan from selling motorcycles without OBDII ports like in Europe.

My KPX came with 9.0.

Teklock 10-18-2022 05:48 PM

Right, from my research all the US imported Lifan models have the newer 9.0 EURO 4 compliant system except the KP/KPR. That's probably why there are two different EPA applications for the KPR and KPM. They both have the exact same engine but two different EFI systems so two completely different emission tests (and rated HP).

My KPR200 that I bought in June has 9.0 on the ECU. Haven't located the diagnostic connector yet though.

I didn't pull my ECU out so I don't know which one I have but this is what the diagnostic port looks like. Like Jerry said it will require an adapter.

Thanks herbie! I saw that open end connector and for some reason thought it was the connector used for an aftermarket alarm. Also found a 9 pin open end connector directly across from that 4 pin connector.

herbie 12-02-2022 04:31 AM

The 9 pin connector is for the alarm, I did an alarm install video that shows me using the 9 pin connector, although I only used 4 wires I think, I only wanted the alarm function. The remote start function did work through that plug but I didn't like it so I removed the wires for that.

Thanks again herbie! I'll see if I can find an adapter to fit the 4 pin connector and then see if I can get one of my OBD2 readers to connect to the ECU.

I'd like to be able to watch the O2 sensor voltage to see where it's at while riding at different rpms so I'll know if I need to take steps to try to adjust it. I'm close to 4,000 feet here and the fuel here contains roughly 8% ethanol so if the stock stoichiometric reading is ~14.6 at idle, I'd like to be able to find a way to richen it up and would most likely try the EIFE route first.

4 different OBD2 readers and my HP Tuners software will not connect to this ECU so I doubt that it is OBD2 compliant. Looks like I'll have to monitor O2 voltage with a meter to see what the fueling is doing and hopefully adjust accordingly.

I thought the port would only be good for retrieving and erasing codes with no live data, but I wasn't sure. I hope you can get it sorted Jim!
