1975 Husqvarna CR250GP Mikkola Replica

As previously discussed, we have a car show here in our small town every July 4th weekend. I've been shopping BSA's and classic Honda's for some thing to put in the show.....but I've also been getting hammered by my friends about "Why not enter the Husky?"

Well....it needs some serious freshening up. I bought this bike from my brother in 1981, after he bought it at a year old in 1976. Didn't matter. Like many of his bikes, he took off to college and I rode them anyway! May as well buy 'em....

Anyway, just for fun, I thought I'd start a thread on the tear down and refurb. Looks like I'll enter two bikes in the show now. Damn friends....... What do they call it? Peer pressure?

I received the first part in the mail today. The air box sticker.
Going to get a new plastics set next. Glad someone is still making re-pops. The bike was converted to all Preston Petty "Mudders" in 1976. Time to go back to originals.

Here's one of the last pics I took of it. This was well over a decade ago. The bike still looks the same. The owner, on the other hand, has changed dramatically.

Yah, its main job has been to stay out of the way, not get damaged in storage, and let time pass.

Plan to do some AHRMA? The Husky would be perfect for it.

Got a new set of Magura lever covers. Cheap too. I'm surprised they are still available! Not going hog wild on this project yet. Long way to the car show (July) and it's snowing. Been more wood stove feeding, than riding or wrenching lately.

Just saw this. Oh hell no! LOL! The bike is up for it. The rider is no where near up for it.....

Thanks. It has been an incredible bike. Many, many stories on it I can share than have happened over the decades. When walking through the shop and people are looking at my (shrinking) stable, I point at the Husky and always say..."...and that's the one that tried to kill me the most."

"Did I tell you about the time I was blasting down a muddy straightaway and my handlebar hooked the cyclone fence?" There were a lot of these types of occasions.... ;-)

Unfortunately, it's been so dang cold and snowy here, I haven't had any time to do much more than feed the wood stove and pet the dog. Come on Spring!
