New York

Hi.......
Anybody have one registered in NY????

NY uses California emissions......
Any of these things legal in CA or NY??

I would hate to buy one and find out the hard way....

Then again....someone has to be the guinea pig.......

:)

California has to CARB approve a bike for emissions. Many bikes that are DOT/EPA approved are only approved for 49 states, not California. In theory, you should be able to street register one of these DOT/EPA bikes, but I have a feeling that New York, like a few of the other Peoples Communist Regimes, aka, restrictive states, will have a few tricks up their sleeves to keep you from registering your bike.

I am afraid you may be right.....
I am going to the DMV tomorrow to find out..... :(

Went to local DMV.....
They said to bring in a VIN# and they can tell you if you can register it...

Then I found racewayatvs in NY...
I called them and they said Jetmoto enduros are street legal in NY....

But they don't have any.....and won't for at least 2 weeks......

If the Jetmotos are legal....Lifan should be too!!!!!!

I called Americanlifans 800# to see about a NY dealer and got a message stating no one was available to answer my call......

I will try them again tomorrow.....off to work I go..... :(

They must be on holiday. I called them today too and left a message.

Holiday??? It's Tuesday in Texas...

I don't know. They usually answer after a couple of rings. I have called a few times, but today I tried the toll-free number instead of the regular number.

I called the 800# about 1PM EST and got the answering machine.... :(

I will try back today....

kaboom 06-06-2007 12:44 PM

Got through to American Lifans 800#.....

Nearest dealer in NY to me is 2.5 hours away......

And the salesman who deals with them is gone to the auction today...... :(

No info today

katoranger 06-06-2007 01:27 PM

I called direct on the toll number twice today and spoke with too people and left a message for Shawn about my mso.

It is worth the 2.5 hour drive if you can get a good price on the bike and the dealer does all the paperwork for you.

I will try to contact the dealer rep again tomorrow.....

I simply do not want to go through the hassles at the DMV with MSO/MCO/EPA if they will do it for me......

If they won't.......

Well that opens up other options......

We'll see.....

A good dealer will do the mso/title work for you. The title fee will be included in the price of the bike. Ask them if they apply for the title for you.

Where's the thumbs up smilie?? :?

Your welcome. I wish I would have been a bit more patient, but it looks like I will have my new MSO on Monday and wil be able to title it Tuesday.

Like I had said before, I think NY is more stringent (read=difficult) when it comes to plating these bikes, if I remember reading posts either here or on one of the groups. A dealer would be the route to take, IMO. You could always take the greyhound to the dealer and ride it back...
