Big bend March 2018

Spent 4 nights out at big bend with the 2 wheeled Texans crew. Over 2 days did about 80 miles of the tough stuff trans Chihuahuan Desert. Dropped the mighty v strom about 8 times 😣but still runs straight and true. Cosmetic damage only and repairs in progress (right blinker lost in the desert :lmao:) Mainly will have to remove and hammer out the alum bash plate. The sweep rider said I sounded like a Chinese band with all the rocks hitting the undercarriage :lmao: not the best bike to take through these tough 4x4 tracks but would not trade the experience. This was bucket list stuff (spent some cash too to do it).

Old ore road, and old river road

This sand like volcano ash conglomerate and heavy gravel beds pulled my 500lb vstrom 650 down many times. ...major challenge overcome!

I bet that V strom was like wrestling a drunk bear over some of that terrain. 470ish lbs of bike on the road isn't so bad, but on rocky loose surface.... talk about a workout.

That looks like tons-o-fun BB. Now that you've done that on the 'strom, does it make you wonder how guys do it on the big Beemers? Could you imagine picking one of those up all day?

I pretty much just did myself. The thing was i would be so pissed that i got sucked down and did not want to hold up the group, i had it pull up and moving relativitly quickly. That one time i dropped it on one of those softball/basketball bolder inclines i needed help and i clutch walked it to the top. I aint too proud, that stuff was not your typical motorcyclist stuff. I need to stand up more when confronting the tough technical.

A guy took his wife wither her Klr and he was wore out after having to pick it up for her so many times on the 52 mile old river road section, they headed back. I still admired her for having the guts to attempt it still. (And those klr's are freaking heavy too)

I needed the old 286 lb bashan blaze, right?
