Hi guys,

Just wanted to say hi from Golden Sands Bulgaria. Today is my last day here. Will be back in Germany tomorrow. Krasi, your country is Great! We had lots of fun here.

That beach looks lovely. What were the day and night temperatures?

Thanks, Trailbikeryder (not that I cant take any credit for it :)). I like it too. It's the people here that annoy me, or at least the majority of them :D:D:D And definitely all of the politicians!

Anyway, seaside temperatures in the summer are up to about 30-33 Celsius during the day, and down to about 15-18 during the night. But this year it's been somewhat colder and "rainier" than usual.

A little quiz: can someone guess what's the car, parked behind the Duke? ;)

We certainly never got Ladas like that in Canada! I think all we had were the '80's Niva and Riva.

Krasi here is another Quiz picture. What kind of car? We were on a Jeep Safari with those. They had no seat belts and they were running on natural Gas.

This is UAZ 469. Again a "hard core" Russian machine that was produced virtually unchanged for like 40-50 years, if not more :)

These days they call it "UAZ Hunter":

And hunters around here love them indeed.

I doubt they were running on natural gas (CNG), because tank bottles for it are quite heavy and usually with lower volume, due to the high pressure required to keep the gas liquid in them.

More likely they were running on propane gas (LPG - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autogas), as most of us do. Such conversion can be done virtually on any petrol, or even diesel - weird, I know, vehicle. My Renault is like that and the local dealer converted it for me, but some cars come like that straight from the factory:

I don't think Ladas were ever imported into the US. What I do see in my area are Belarus tractors. There was a dealer just across the border in Oklahoma that sold them.

Ladas were definitely imported into Canada, and they were much better than the ill-fated Yugo, which was imported by Malcolm Bricklin.

Yugos I have seen. Never been in one. The Lada actually seems like a decent basic vehicle.
