Bashan Brozz Jetting & More

So, I'm toying around with various jetting configurations, with a personal pref. of increasing my power / throttle response across the higher gears (e.g. more road use vs. trail riding) ~ to compensate for my large frame (6' 9" & 230 lbs). My current jetting config. is listed in my signature, but my alt. & ave. riding temps aren't. I'm at an alt. of 1100' & ride in generally "warmer" temps. (Atlanta area), so 50's right now.

So far, my current jetting seems to work well for me, but that'll likely have to be increased / modified once I get a new exhaust. What are some of you guy's environments (e.g. alt. & ave. riding temps.) & carb configs? (incl. custom carb fits, like Nibbi or other H-P brands, as well as jetting, air-fuel mix, & other tweaks plz).

Im at 600 foot elevation and temps around 40s lately..I have similar mods with the addition of ported head and also have the Nibbi Air Pod with the Nibbi Intake manifold. I have a PE30 carb and tested it at 42 pilot / needle in 2nd position from the top / 140 main and it ran well.. ive recently backed the pilot down to 40 and swapped the main to 130 and have yet to test it..
I suspect it may have been a bit rich with the 140 main as i noticed if i full throttled it and then let off, there would be a moment of hesitancy afterwards when i got back on the throttle.. someone else posted a similar symptom previously that i read and was guided that they may be too rich and the fuel is backing up so to speak..

Before the PE30 i had the stock PZ30 and added 2 washers under the needle and was at a 115 main and she ran well with that setup, but with the porting work and airpod i wanted more tuneabiity and performance to match those mods and the PE30 delivered.

Hope some of that helps..

Hey, do you guys happen to have a link for the pilot jets? I've looked all over with no luck.

Thanks
John

Here's the PJ I use, but I'm not sure that it is the same style you use. I like this assortment as it offers the most common PJ's I use for my setup. Hope it helps.

**Edit**
Alternatively, if you want a genuine product, Niche offers genuine Mikuni jets for a reasonable price. Here's a good PJ for a near-stock (or stock) setup:

Nice setup tknj99.

I thought about having a port & polish done locally, but I didn't know Nibbi made a manifold for this bike. Do you have a link? TIA

Joamon,
Couple questions re your mod list:
- which handguards did you go with, i bought these off Amazon for my stock bars and they were a non-starter to get on
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

- custom engine crash bar - cruising bar: can you share more info on that and perhaps a pic

- shorty windshield: curious if thats the same one i posted about previously?

Thanks!

I think I have the same windscreen as you. I have a pic of my bike with most of my current mods, minus the crash guards on it (I'll get a pic of that when the weather cleans up & I remount them ~ I took them off last trail ride b/c they don't work off-road very well, since I built them to serve as both a crash guard & "highway bar", so sticks & stuff gets caught on them on skinny trails). The embedded pic is an older one too. Haven't taken any recents.

As for the hand guards. I went with something different... & as a side note, since the mounting mechanism on the throttle side caused my throttle to stick, I used red threadlock to hold the nut in place on the mounting bolt inside of the grip, so I retained the spring function on my throttle ~ this was a trial & error fix.

Handguards:

On a side note, I also carry the stuff linked below when I ride, b/c I don't have a lot of ethanol-free gas stations around my area (esp. around the mountains / foothills I like to ride in), & I hate cleaning out gummed up carbs (due to running ethanol gas). Carrying an enzyme-concentrate gives me the freedom to use "regular (ethanol) gas" in a pinch. Since we're talking "mods", I figured this would be notable.

**Edit** The rear bag looks off b/c I have it strapped in such a way that I can remove it easy, but when it's strapped, it's secure. The rear bag doubles as a backpack. When I go for rides I often also take day hiking trips. I plan to change out my rear bag soon & just start either wearing a backpack or rolling it up inside a bigger rear bag & packing it when I get to my trail.

I just happen to think. I can tell you what I did to build the guard / highway bar if you want to recreate it.

For an easily removable bar (e.g. if you go on- / off- road a lot):
>> 1" dia. x 30" L black iron pipe (or whatever your pref. length is)
>> Threaded caps for the tube
>> Grade 8 bolts (at least 1.5" ~ I use 2") w/ matching lock washers & nylon nuts
>> These bar clamps: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FETT3FO...v_ov_lig_dp_it

1) Mount bar clamps to the front part of your frame (behind the wheel at a safe ht for the bar).
2) Hold the pipe up to the clamps & mark where you should drill
3) Drill holes through your pipe (to provide holes to bolt your pipe to the clamps)
4) Attach the pipe to the clamps with the bolts
5) I use a little blue threadlocker to both my clamp bolts & red threadlocker to the pipe bolts to keep the bike vibrations from working them out. While I'm driving on the road, I figure I can tell if the pipe is working loose as I'd feel it under my feet, but I still check it periodically (e.g. fill ups) to make sure things stay tight.

For a "permanent" bar:
If you're worried about the pipe working loose, or you plan to use a shorter pipe (e.g. using it only as a guard instead of as also highway bars), or you just want more rigidity (e.g. more assurance it'll protect your engine / legs from crashes), you could use red threadlocker on the clamp bolts, as well as cold-welding (or spot welding) the clamps to the frame. Despite the mild concern for what would happen if my bar ever came off, it's no less worry than any OEM fitted guard I've had on other bikes that just "bolt on".

With a little ingenuity, you could theoretically make actual crash bars using this method as a base. I almost did that myself, but wanted to keep wt. to a minimum & keep the attaching / detaching process simple (as a more elaborate guard would need multiple clamp points).

I'll get pics when I can, but I hope this helps.

Thanks for that info..

re: hand gaurds.. ill look into that style of hand guards and see about fitment as you mentioned

re: windshield, yep same as mine except mines blacked out.. a nice easy mod for sure and helps alittle in the wind department plus looks good and flows with the lines of the bike

and thanks for the info on crash guards, very creative mod for sure!

also, love the graphics!

I put on the PowerMad bark busters. They aren't bulletproof but are pretty solid and have worked out well.

tknj99... sorry for the late reply. Been crazy-busy lately. Other than a couple of minor mods that I haven't got on yet, here is my completed Brozz project (e.g. turning it into a mini-ADV bike). I removed the engine guard (gotta recreate that), & added an accessory bar, which is freakin' GREAT! I'll add this pic / post to the general forum too, in case anyone wants to do something similar.
