Starting Without a Key
Apparently, my Storm 250 that I sold has been impounded. I'm going to go see if I can buy it back tomorrow from impoundment. I will have to start it without a key. I've never done this before, but I'm thinking I can just connect the two wires on either side of the ignition. Will this work?

If just to kick start, then yes. IIRC, #30 is battery, #15 is ignition and lights. #54 is the starter solenoid. Tying 30 to 15 will get you running with the kicker.
I used to have to hot wire repo'ed loaders. |
Looks like you can get a new one HERE

Thanks, Cheesy, just what I thought.

Impound in Kansas City requires tow away. Can't drive a purchased vehicle away even if it runs. Can you drive it from Impound where you are??

I ended up not buying it out of impound. I might try to buy it when it goes up for auction.

There are auctions regularly for vehicles at the Kansas City impound lot.
https://oaikc.com/auctions/ I bought a '02 Civic there a couple of years ago, and had to rent a car dolly to take it home. Auctions are online. You register before the auction. There are some nice deals to be had, including motorcycles. Lots of wrecks and you have no idea what you'll find when you get to work on them. They let you inspect the vehicles before the auction. Some are locked up, but some are open and you can open the hood, take a look. The ones to get are the ones taken "at arrest", because they were running when impounded! ;) |

(Recently, someone's bike from here was stolen and had ended up getting impounded, and I was shocked to learn some things) |
