UM DS200 Rear Wheel replacement???
I bought a 2004 United Motors DS200 bike that's needed a rear wheel along with rear brakes and rear sprocket, and have not been able to find one any where. Ive looked for a replacement on numerous websites but to no avail. So my question is, Is it possible that I get a wheel that is the same size rim that has the rear brake drum and a different sprocket (lets assume this is off some completely different bike but with the same size rear wheel, uses a drum rear brake, but with a different sprocket as stated) and it actually fit on my bike? Any thoughts on the matter will be extremely appreciated. By the way I have found a rear wheel to a Roketa but isn't as wide as my rear wheel on mine. The rear wheel on that bike has the same width as my front wheel, and would that be a problem? If not I'll probably get it because I can get the complete rear assembly pretty cheap for it. Once again, Thanks.

Welcome!
Do you have an existing rear wheel that is damaged, or is it missing entirely? |

Would this work for example? Its the same size rim, has a drum brake, different sprocket, and even come with the rear axle. |
I'm running a Honda xl125 rear wheel in my Panterra. it's an exact fit. look at the rim, the size should be stamped on it somewhere. mine was a 1.85 x 18, so I looked for a similar wheel from the mid 80s-mid 90s. I'm not sure what your bike is a clone of, but figure what it is and just look for a used version of it.

Can you show us a pic of your rear wheel and the Roketa rear wheel for comparison? What are the rim sizes on your wheel and the Roketa?

3 Attachment(s)
This is the Rear wheel on my bike. The wheel is 2.15x18
Attachment 944 Attachment 945 Attachment 946 And I found a 78 Honda xl250 rear wheel that has a 2.15x18 rim. And I believe that this should work as long as the sprocket lines up correctly and the drum brake does the same. Heres the link to it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/370998565900...84.m1423.l2649 |
that's some seriously bubba'd work, you need some chain tensioners as well OP. it looks like bolts jammed into the slots. seriously, take a good look over the rest of the bike before riding it. It sure looks like a Honda type rear wheel. you may have to play with spacers to get the right alignment for the sprocket and drum back plate.

I found an option on www.taobao.com. Open this link in Google Chrome, and allow it to translate:
$76.88 for a pair of rims in any colour you wish: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=...id=38513698113 |
That is another great find on Taobao, Weld.

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up buying the Honda XL250 rear wheel for this bike, and just for later info for anyone else in my situation I'll post back up on how this wheel fits, if it fits at all (which I'm pretty sure it will). But I did look over the bike today and the only other problem is that the clutch cable is kinda hard. Not to mention it needs a headlight bulb and a rear brake light but I'm not to worried about that because I don't plan on riding at night nor do I plan on getting it on the road until I replace those things. Also, on a side note, what oil should I use too because I figure it needs a oil change. I have a few quarts of 10w-40 laying around and I was wondering if that would work. And I wanna replace the spark plug(s) so any clue what spark plug to get? I would just look this stuff up normally but I cant find any info on this bike, all I can find is info on similar Roketas.

If you need a BA20D bulb, you can get them from the internet. However, I suggest you convert your headlight to an H4 bulb, if it all possible. ;) I'm sure your bike employs the standard, 1157 bulb for the tail light. I always switch to an LED tail light, or LED bulb. I bought a Trail Tech 1157 LED Bulb for my Honda XR650L. http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/...h%20led%201157 http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/im...a_led_tail.jpg Quote:

Really appreciate all the info SpudRider, I'll most likely change the oil tomorrow and go buy a spark plug as well. As for the headlight bulb, I have absolutely no clue lol but I'll be able to find one eventually. But one last thing, the sprocket on the Honda wheel will most likely be the wrong size or the wrong amount of teeth, but I did find a rear spocket for that wheel that is the size my bike calls for (15/46), but with that rigged up rear wheel on my bike, I'm assuming I'll need a front sprocket as well. What size is the front sprocket you suppose? Just were I can find a replacement if need be. Once again, Thanks!

The XR250 rim will likely have a 520 chain on it, so you'll need to change the front sprocket to match. JT makes a 520 countershaft sprocket that will work on your 200 engine, but please measure the splines to confirm. Here's the JT sprocket: http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/sprocket/JTF328
You can order the sprocket from a local motorcycle shop or buy it on eBay. |
