New member!

Hello from the swamp state (Louisiana)! I joined due to my interest in SSR mx bikes. It makes no (0) sense to me to pay 10k for a freakin' dirt. If I made my living riding Mx then it might but sense I'm like 90%+ of the rest of dirt bike enthusiasts & just ride off road in the woods/mud there is no logical reason IMO to waste $$ on something I can get the same level of enjoyment from for half the price. Once SSR focuses on the right market & improves their Mx bikes a little they'll own the entry level Mx market.

SSR just placed 2nd in the World Vet Championship. A $5,000 bet coulda won $50,000 considering Chinese bike's rep. I bet there were some mad jap teams in those pits!

I'm going w/ the 250cc. Just like the price reason for buying a SSR there's no reason for me to buy a 450 since all my riding will be woods/mud. The street is the only place I'll ever get above 3rd gear & who the heck buys a dirt bike to go fast on the street?

Well I looks nice and true 250cc according to specs. It ought to be pretty hot

Let us know when you find a dealer and purchase. we will all be waiting for pics :)

Remember, if it's not dealer prepared, make sure you follow all the recommendations for new China bikes in this forum. Good luck , have fun in the Pines

Thanks BB. There's a dealer in New Orleans that I already contacted. There tons of pines & pin oaks here. I don't see ever getting outta 2nd gear 90% of the time so a 450's large amount of power would just be wasted $$. I've read several dudes w/o decades of Mx comps experience report that they prefer a 250cc for the same reason.. they hardly ever even get into 3rd gear & wouldn't ride a frequently overheating, constantly bogging, boring 450+ no matter what the cost.

The "250 vs. 450?" issue reminds me of my conclusion that dirt bikes are meant for woods racing & not Mx, despite decades of mx focused marketing by bike manufacturers. Nothing will corner climb or jump like a dirt bike. A multi terrain woods race is 1000x the fun of Mx'ing. IMO anyway.

Haha, except those immovable objects called trees:lmao:.

Weight ,HP, price is what it's about in the China riders forum. You choose these in which order you wish.

SSR's are tops for their low price in the category. .. Some have worried about dealer support but sounds like you may have found a good one in your region. Depending on lousania dmv rules you may be able to equip and plate it for street. Parts are really available on the Web now.

The place i bought my bashan sell a full line of ssr's you may want to check them too. This is not the one but you can look around to find the one you want. If they have it

My bike is that "apollo250 ":lmao: which is also a Bashan blaze.

Also look at the coolster hawk :lmao:, its name of the month with the retailers. Take your pic, name wise. :hehe:

Whatever, there all fun machines.

China is turning out quality products of every imaginable type & selling them at VERY competitive prices. No one can compete. SSR dirt bikes are just a VERY interesting example. While I don't deceive myself into thinking a SSR 250 is just as good as a YZ250f I do think for far less than $1,000 I can through aftermarket parts make a $4,500 SSR just as good as a $10,000 race-ready jap bike. < That is the ultimate reason why I'm buying a SSR dirt bike.

I'm hoping pulling the silencer plug out will add a few horses & a few ft/lbs. of torque, besides making it loud enough to be heard for at least 3 miles.

http:// http://www.cycleworld.com/2014/03/20/2014-ssr-motorsports-sr250-first-ride-review-photos-specifications

If I'm right I'll have nearly 80% of a YZ 250F for less than half the cost with the same warranty. Pretty freakin' good IMO!

To put it another way for what (1) YZ250F costs I could buy (2) SSR250's. Ride one for 5 yrs then store it & start all over w/ a brand new 250 instead of a burned-out YZ.
