tbr7 has 4th gear stuck on display?

So its kinda weird, it shows "4" on the gear display, for first gear, second gear, and fourth gear.

however, when in 3rd or 5th gear it shows a "9" on the display

the bike also doesnt start now unless i hold the clutch in (i presume because it thinks its in gear)

this happened after the chain popped on me when downshifting.

Check for broken wires on gear selector switch which is near the front sprocket. The chain probably broke a few.

They are color coded, so you can repair without mystery. The connector is probably the typical 6 wire bus connector. Good luck.

so upon checking today its completely fine in terms of the wires being broken. i unplugged the speedometer assembly and plugged it back in to no avail, it still always shows as 4th gear. the number 4 is permanently on. its weird

so looking at this image, notice how "3" and "4" mixed together looks like 9. so i guess thats why it shows a 9 on the display when in third gear. hoping changing the speedometer fixes it cause i plan on doing that in the next week or two

I would remove and check the inner terminals on the selector switch just to verify that its intact, and to make sure the part that it interfaces with on the motor is working as it should

will do, if worse comes to worse, id imagine the hawk/tt250 gear indicator assembly fits on the tbr7? the best part about these bikes is how dirt cheap the parts are. something fails and i can just drop 20 bucks max on a new part
