Decided to gamble so on 01-04-22 drive two hours to dealer in Grand Prarie,Tx. Forked over $260 and was assured tags/title were no problem. Looking this guy face to face I still had doubts.
On 01-18-22 blue Texas title arrives. it looks legit, like other titles I've owned but for make it reads RPS. That is the dealer name and not what was on the MCO. No plate for bike but I didn't expect them to arrive together. So there's hope.
A day goes by, then days, then weeks,and no plate. No real hurry, the weather is bad every other day, so can't ride, but still I'm like the dog at the window waiting for the mailman everyday.
Finally say to heck with it. Tired of wondering if dealer did right or a problem with postal system. So on 03-03-22 I get lost plate form off DMV website, use all info printed on title (vin,make,license no.), go to tax office and hand them the form and $6.50 few for replacement.
The tax lady never bats an eye, hands me a new metal plate, and we trade thank yous.
So I now have in my hot little hands an official Texas issued title and an official metal Texas license plate hanging off the back of the bike. Laissez les bon temps roler!!
But this whole process has left a bad taste that won't easily wash away.
And at the time of this post I still haven't received metal plate in the mail.
So I guess the short answer is yes you can title/tag a Hawk in Texas but I might add an * to the answer.
