rode a CT90 today......NOW with my S90 / CT90 build thread
 

Its a 71 CT90 and it is rough but I got it fired up today and rode it around for a few minutes then went to work on my toolbox tote.

Not me. The CT 90 was my very first bike. It helped a little that my grandfather had one (slightly newer than mine) I learned to ride first.

I always wanted the 110 model...or a clutch. My friends had real dirt bikes, so I was never happy.



Here's a little tip...if you rev it up and drop it into gear to pop the front wheel, it will eventually sling the chain and bust the case. 8O

Don't ask me how I know. :oops:



Have fun with yours. They are great machines for what they are.
I wish I had appreciated what it was, instead of being focused what it wasn't, but such is life.

No wheelies just putting around, we just want it for a moped and I have a S90 that needs a lot of work but should be fun also.

I did forget how much fun an auto clutch could be though :lol: the last one a rode/owned was my honda 50 when a was just a little nipper.

Both bikes will be getting a 50cc 4-speed auto engine ASAP I have the engines just need all the other stuff for them.

TC, I haven't forgotten about those parts.

Thats good to hear I'm going to need parts. :)

It still amazes me how that tired old honda engine fires up on the first kick even when it is fairly cold.I didnt even clean the carb on it i just got a spark and added some fuel, oh yeah the 6volt lantern battery made a hugh difference in starting it. :lol:

I had a CT90 purchased used at a yard sale for $55 back in 1988. I rode that thing for many years and it would get up to around 50mph on the highway. I sold it about 5 years ago for $300 after it had been sitting in my garage for many years. Those things run forever....

i like the ct 90 i wouldnt mind having one i like the idea of the high and low range did all of them have that

I think they discontinued it for a year but caught to much flak and put it back on.
It is geared really low when engaged and would be good for off road in some hilly area's but overall I doubt we'll ever need it.

I plan on just having a chinese 50cc engine on ours with what is supposed to be a 4-speed auto trans but I think it is a 3 but havnt cared to check it out since it wont matter in the long run. :)

I think I'll do some more work on it this weekend and run it around a bit with the tired old 90cc engine thats in it.

I think it looks better than the plastic mopeds running around. :lol:

I bought a CL70 I think back in the '70s for fifty bucks. The guy that sold it to me drove it till he got a a license for a car and no longer wanted it. Licensed and inspected and even had all the blinkers.
I rode it for several months till I got a real bike and then sold it to another friend for fifty.It changed hands a few more times each time for fifty bucks till we lost track of it. Only one like it I have ever seen. More of a street bike but a tiny motor on it.

The CT90's were very popular back then and always fetched a good price.

A well kept or restored ct90 can bring in over a grand now which just amazes me.

I dont plan on restoring the one I have to original (to expensive to do) I just want a fun, reliable moped to hop on and go whenever I feel like it.
The dualsports are fun but I hate the helmets and the faster pace, sometimes I just like to putt around. :lol:

And no this engine does not have the gear reduction but we dont need it.

Carefull on the small bikes TC, Those are the ones that hurt ya and make ya look foolish in front of friends :lol: Trust me I know :oops:

Yeah I'll watch it as I can see just how easy it is to get a bit over confident on it.(that thing is so much fun)

I was running a mini urban trials course in my yard on friday. :)
No rocks, hills or logs just buildings, cars, trailers and fences.The hairpin left turn around the saw horses at the shed was where I always dropped a foot it is just to tight. :lol: I'll just have to practice.

Well kato I am getting a bit excited about the ct90 and s90 now with a bunch of parts coming from you and other sources.

I plan to wire in the 50cc engine to the s90 first since it isnt even a runner right now and after that I'll wire the other 50cc engine into the ct90.

Both bikes will be about the same except the s90 has 18" rims but I may end up using ct90 rims (17") on it as well as a ct90 headlight and 12v hidden battery box since I will have to convert both to 12v.

I really need to paint both of them but My shed is in shambles right now.
