Contemplating purchase of SSR Bucaneer

I'm interested in purchasing a Bucaneer Classic, but I need more information, photos, and hands-on information before committing. Also would like to know about any accessories available from SSR or other vendors. I've spoken with SSR dealers and SSR USA, but information is very sparse.
Anyone with information regarding the above, please feel free to post on this thread.
Hopefully since the bike is now available in the USA, more information will soon become available.
If you know of foreign websites with Bucaneer information or accessories, please share it.
:thanks:

Everyone has their own unique use criteria, but this model appears to lack even a kickstand . . so next to worthless for errands and commutes.

Tortoise, LOL :)

My only hesitation wouldn't be whether it is a pile of junk, but rather the value for your dollar vs. an established brand. For reference, however, Cleveland Cyclewerks have had enthusiasm for their retro bikes, such as their Misfit and Ace models, not to mention their bobber which started them off as a legitimate brand. Those have MSRPs of around the same price that SSR is asking. I love singles, but the SSR twin engine in their twins (couldn't resist) is intriguing to me.

Based on that other thread, there is an awful Nepalese short film about some guy's infatuation with a Buccaneer, so I would try to find out about the bike from Nepal's bike press (they should have English sites). Not sure where else the model is sold, but the brand in the film says 'Italjet' so try that brand in Google.

I am fairly certain you won't be a Guinea pig (the bad kind--i.e. how to get warranty issues covered, but more likely the 'good' kind like here on Chinariders with members asking you a million questions), but I totally understand your hesitation 'just in case!'

I'll follow this thread but IMHO it is priced about $1000 too high.

I agree with the need for more than 250cc's or more horsepower.
But the biggest problem with the bike is lack of the bike's equipment, or maintenance requirements, or lack there of, and more photos of the bike from front, back, above and underneath!
Also a lack of an owner's manual and a service manual. I've contacted SSR on Alonda Blvd in California numerous times with little to no responses. If you visit their website you'll notice that they do not publish a telephone number. I guess they want you to come in, in person for any detailed information, warranty issues, or parts replacement. "Take the money and run"! :hmm:
Or contact one of their dealers. Good luck with finding an SSR dealer with a SSR "on road bike" in stock. They all tell me to just "order one" to gain information!
SSR must be one of those suppliers who are mainly interested in "the money", and "forget about" any service, help, or feed back after you give them the cash! :ohno:
If I'm wrong about their lack of communications, information and follow through, I hope I'm corrected in my opinions!
I would like to know a "lot more" before I would ever purchase any of their products. :p
:thanks:

This model just a "FI" Yamaha XV250 clone (2V49FMM) engine jammed in fancy outfit...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italjet http://www.longjia.com.cn/product/BUCCANEER/6.html
Chinese site said Longjia is the OEM of Italjet Buccaneer. If American & Italian don't supports well, there's Chinese alternative....

Don't know FI's brand yet BUT Lifan uses Delphi https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=534932223137 <Keeway also use this...> soultion for similar V-twin...

The Snake Eyes is an instant rat bike. Nice.

My first EFI bike is my 2015 Ural cT and it sure is nice to hit the start button and let her warm up a few minutes and take off.

This is the same engine (or close to) of the Qingqi 250 found on SSR's XF250 enduro. This particular bike is made by Qingqi/Pioneer/another company under the Qingqi umbrella. This one is theoretically a known engine.
