Check engine light on brand new Hawk DLX
I have a brand new 2020 Hawk DLX from Powersportsmax with 5 miles on the odometer. I bought it fully assembled and changed the oil before I ever cranked it. It seems to be running just fine but I noticed the check engine light just came on while riding it around my yard. I do not have a code reader but I'm curious as to what this could be this early on. Any ideas? Thanks.

Update: so I did what you're supposed to do and rode it while the light was on. Made it 2 miles and then while riding it would not react to the throttle and ended up cutting off. Had to load it up on the truck. Going to start checking sensors.

I’m guessing they aren’t as sophisticated as cars. Do we have solid repair manuals? I mean on second thought, maybe just getting a different one from the dealer? You shouldn’t have this kind of trouble out of the box. |
So I clicked the key on and off 3 times to get the code 0562 which corresponds to "EFI system voltage too low". So overnight I charged the battery and it cranked first try this morning. The check engine light is still on though so I'm worried the problem is still around.

Just a thought here, did you charge the battery in the bike hooked up? Another thing my 12-20 bike came a few weeks ago and I noticed bad fuel in the tank. I've been away but should have it running tomorrow. It's EFI so I'm thinking that bad gas could be a problem with these bikes having early on problems that I have read about. Just wanting to learn the problem too.

Hey All, first start today on the Hawk. Had to rinse out the rotten fuel several times, the valves were at closed tight on the exhaust and .005" on intake. Adjusted both before first start. I only put a little fuel in it to make sure of no leaks because of the rinse job. Check engine light came on for what ever reason till I added more. Started right off and no valve noise. Chain was to tight and is adjusted correctly, tire pressure on both 32 lbs. I'm thinking the mirrors can use some blue adhesive. Had some cracks in the front turn signals so mounted them down so can't see, but had to change wiring to make them work right. Overall not to bad as I see it for this J4fun bike.;)

Just wanted to update people about this post. The problem seemed to be when I got the bike I didn't wait until the battery was completely charged before I put it in and started riding. After I charged the battery overnight and rode it a few miles the light went out and has rode fine since.

Thanks for the update.

Use this cord to interface the ecu.. you still need and obd2 adapter to connect to a PC however.
