New UK Skyteam V-Raptor 250 - Top Box Fitting

The Raptor comes with quite a nice rear rack, very beefy. A top box is really useful, so I got one from eBat for £20 / $30. It is 35 litre size, don't know what that is in non-metric, but you can get 35 litre bottles of beer in there. Alternatively, an open face or full face helmet, gloves and a light jacket.

The fitting kit was included in the price - sometimes the removable plate etc. are an optional extra. Unusually, the mounting plate was metal instead of the usual plastic type. Sharp edges though. I have mounted it but during the winter I will take it off and give it a good coat of Hammerite or similar as the paint on it is very thin.

Rear bracket fitted

Other bracket fitted, and a NyLock nut fitted as well. These have been fitted to all of the bolts. I will cut off the extra length but need an open hacksaw to get into the gap as there is not a lot of room. Visit to DIY store booked . .

Funny how 35l of beer puts the volume in perspective for me. :D

I'm in love with those bikes. The trunk is a good addition; I have one of those as well.

Your trunk is almost identical to the Garage Pro/J.C. Whitney trunks sold in the United States. I currently own three of these trunks, and I love them. The metal mounting plate is far superior to a plastic mounting plate. :)

Yep, bought from a U.K. dealer but came in the cardboard box #44 of #99 com[lete with shipping labels from the Chinese manufacturer. Poetic that the bike gets a home-grown box. I couldn't fathom out how to describe 35 litres (liters) so as beer is an international language . . . .

According to Google, 35l is about 37 US quarts, or about 9.25 US gallons. Still a decent amount of beer, no matter how you measure it.

I installed similar topbox on mine but due to vibrations and "Chinese" steel quality, the rear rack cracked at the bending just bellow the blinker bracket. One side a time.

Welded them, but then one of the sides broke right next to the weld, so finally I got it reinforced with a additional "diagonal" support. Only done that this winter so will see how well it'll behave now.

Just keep that in mind and observe that area for indications of cracking.

Thanks for the advice, I will keep a close eye on it. I double-checked all of the bolts when I got it, they seemed nice and tight and quality looked O.K. I will loc-tight the bolts over the next few weeks, starting at the front and working backwards bit-by-bit.
