Who's got the FASTEST CT-70 clone bike ??

Alright, those of us with the CT70 clones, we all know that most of them are either 110cc or 125cc.... and not an actual 70cc.

SO.... WHO'S GOT THE FASTEST ONE OUT THERE ?

What have you got and what are you specs and top speeds?

PHOTOS PLEASE... Let's make this interesting. !!! :yay:

Why don't you start? What have you got your CT up to? Can you confirm by GPS?

Adjuster 03-28-2015 01:21 PM

I have a Honda Cub clone with a 125cc fully automatic. I just put in the 125cc replacing a 49cc and I did a front sprocket change for better top end. I weight 220lbs. I have had it verified by gps to 43mph but it will go much faster, I just havent pushed it yet as I am still breaking in. I am guessing around 50mph and thats pretty dang good for a 220lbs rider.

Here is my bike.

Hey Weldangrind, I'm still breaking in my engine. I haven't taken it over 30mph. Once my motor is broken-in and I removed all the pollution crap, I plan to do some mods to boost up the speed.

The reason for this thread is to see what others have done and which set-up works the best. Everyone has slightly different configurations, so I'd like to get some good knowledge here.

My bike is currently bone stock.

I believe I installed a 17 tooth front sprocket. Made a huge difference.

I think that 50mph is pretty good for one of these. I am sure you can get more.

KooKooBean 04-06-2015 10:33 PM

Yes 50mph is pretty good. The sprocket swap, removing the emissions junk, and bigger carb, with matching exhaust is the way to climb into the high 50's and even 60+....... Not to mention going on a diet.

New to the board. I just picked up a brand new 2012 off ebay. Put on 120/90-10 tires. haven't ran full throttle yet, but speedo says top speed won't be much more than 40. Rev's well, so maybe I need to switch gears.

Hey Waveraider, what brand is that bike?

Here's my little American Lifan. It has a iron jug lifan 140 on it with Mikuni vm24 exhaust and head work. This has a super small rear sprocket that needed the hub machined to clear the chain.

It's pretty happy at about 55 with some throttle to spare. I have grabbed the frame and tucked in before and had it well over 60.

Super scary at those speeds with the junk tires once they warm up really good.

Looks nice. A big upgrade from the old original CT70. I have the same 140 mounted on an old Trail 90 now with over 10,000 trouble free miles on the engine.

One suggestion: Dump those oil cooler lines before they come apart and spray hot oil over your leg. I had 2 of them come apart where the ends are crimped on. A local hydraulics shop can make you some good ones that will last forever.

They have been on there for 6 years. I think they are ok.

As a edit. These were recrimped at the time of install by one of the hydraulic fluid systems guys at a plant I visit. This set was to be the newer lines as well according to Tbolt USA.

That's a good tip for any China oil cooler. I was thinking about installing one on a CG motor, and I might just get custom hoses for it. Thanks!
