2018 RX3...changes?

Maybe I missed the memo. What changes are coming with the 2018 RX3? Elsewhere I saw a mention of 19" front wheel, different instrument panel and ABS. IMHO those are all improvements but will come with a slightly higher cost.

I know the 19" wheel will be standard for 2018. I don't know about anything else.

I can't state it as a fact, but it's rumored the alloy of the framulator has been changed to improve the lubricity of the reticulating dingle arm.

Dang it, now I wish I'd waited for a 2018...

:p

2018 changes confirmed.

19" front wheel, ABS, $300 price increase.

And they're slower because no Orange.

I wonder if the ABS switch is pulling the fuse! I want a bike with ABS but I want to be able to turn it off when off-road. 19" front is a nice standard edition!

There are new colors. Matte Black, Gold, Copper, and Yellow. I like the copper. I was looking at the 2018 Copper TT250. I think for me, the Copper color on the RX3 is even better. With only pictures, it could be the same paint, for all I know.

Nice new color schemes and ABS and 19" front wheel are good adds. Price is still reasonable given ABS as well.

that copper sure is nice looking and that ABS add is something I wish I had - but then I remind myself it's also good for me to learn proper braking skills on my bike without having to rely on fancy technology....

I do hope that the ABS can be turned OFF (for the dirt) -
I'm not sure you'll be able to order a 2018 without it.

For me it's another layer of complexity and technology, (and one more thing that can break) - and as an experienced rider I know how to panic stop through practice.

That's good to hear, makes me think that there will be a market for my '16 without ABS. I'm to the point where I do not want another bike without ABS and am seriously tempted to get a '18 just for that feature. The Euro standards require ABS now. I suspect that is why Zong is making ABS standard so they can build one platform to sell worldwide. This way they have the volume to add ABS for a small up-charge. I'm used to seeing the ABS option costing $1K or more.

If ABS is the only physical change I'll be able to move all my 'farkles' from the '16 to an '18. Sweet!

Weak front brake = poor man's ABS.

Seriously, I like the upgrades and new colors for the 2018 models, but I wish Zong had put the effort into improving front brake stopping power rather than adding ABS. I write this assuming that the front brake uses the same rotor/caliper/pads as the earlier models. From the photos they all look the same.

I wonder if the speedo accuracy will improve with the 19" wheel.

ABS will keep the rear brake from locking up, a real problem on my RX3. I installed the optional rotor and now the front brake does a decent job (not two finger stopping like on my dear departed Duck or Guzzi). When I run the 19" front wheel my speedo is within 1% of the GPS speed.

BlackBike 01-12-2018 08:33 PM

My 17 Suzuki indicates 80 but the gps indicates 76. Even the expensive az bikes have that speedo problem.

Dualsport Chic 01-13-2018 09:26 AM

It really would have been most useful if they spent the funds upgrading the suspension on the bike which is woefully deficient. But, I'm sure that in time this will be addressed as well.
