2017 hawk 250 not 229cc?

So my father and I both have Hawks... They both say 239cc on the MCO. Was someone drunk while typing up both, did they increase the bore, or am I just stupid and it's been 229cc all along?

That's interesting, maybe you got a pair of sleeper Hawks :)

I'd be surprised if it's not a typo.

For sale for $13,000. That's not a typo. Custom 2 of a kind from factory (;

I'm just curious how 2 of them got this typo.

3 of a kind, my MCO Said the same thing lol

Rideon 07-14-2017 06:53 AM

Mine too.

Mine says the same thing. I think I can feel the extra power from the 239 engine on the 2017 model.

jimwildman 07-14-2017 11:33 AM

Mine says 299cc on the engine sticker, and 229 on the MCO.
Typos or misplaced labels it all happens often on Chinese products.

299cc would be perfect too.

The only way to know the displacement for sure it to pull the cylinder head and measure it. Even the serial number stamped into the engine case may be incorrect as I found out on the CG engine in my quad. Engine case numbers say 171FMM which would be a 71mm bore 250cc class but it actually measures 63.5mm which makes it 200cc. Correct label would be 163FML. Haven't measured the 167FMM engine bore in my other quad but I suspect it too is 63.5mm.

X2 on Mudflap's comments. I've found a couple of engine case typos so far.

ronswanson 07-14-2017 08:47 PM

I also noticed my carb is mounted on a rubber boot, on studs, not directly to the engine on bolts as I think I see in motocheezes stuff. I'm curious if they made a few alterations.

Mudflap 07-14-2017 08:55 PM

The rubber boot acts as a thermal block so the heat from the cylinder head isn't conducted to the carb which would boil the gas.

To further fuel CC speculation, my buddy just pulled the head on his hawk, manufactured January 2017 according to the paperwork.

Note the "250" on the casting.

Granted, it doesn't mean that the hawk is now 250, but I'll see if I can get him to measure rough bore and stroke while it's off.

To be clear, most motorcycle manufacturers round up that far. The SR250 (or Yamaha Exciter) is only 239cc.
