Aftermarket Levers

I'm thinking of trying something like this....but am unclear on the banjo size. I'm guessing the bore size may be larger than stock since it's for a CBR600 though.

Has anyone run some different lever assemblies that they like, help create better front braking and know that fit?

there is a thread on levers as far as i know no one has found any that fit the rx3 without mods. but i could be wrong have been many times before

There is a guy from Ohio (banned on this forum) that did. Look back a few pages from the end of the Rx3 thread.

To my knowledge, no one has found an aftermarket replacement for the brake and clutch levers ... that work with the stock handlebar mounts and reservoir.

But you can replace everything (mounts and all) if you want. Just make sure the mounts fit 7/8 inch handlebars. That's what danimal did on advriders.

I have not seen anything from anyone yet. Although, I think it would be ideal to have the reservoir separate. Like you see on sportbikes that are prep'd for the track. That would free up space on the bars and allow for more variations of accessories, such as hand guards and ram mounts ...etc.. The stock bars are short in length.

Well heck...no better way to find out than to order them and try it, right? I can always return them.....

If they work or not, I'll keep you all posted. Best thing is it will give me the excuse to flush out the stock spongy fluid and replace it with some good DOT4.

My only concern is the banjo size. Time will tell.

I bet they work. I took a closer look at your link and they look really nice. Hope the banjo bolt is a fit!

...and truth be told, not only am I hoping for a slightly larger bore since it's for a CBR, but I think the blue will look awesome with a blue and white bike! ;-)
Price seems fair enough....and I'm addicted to free shipping.

Reviving the thread with questions

2 Attachment(s)
I have a couple of questions for those who've swapped out their clutch and brake lever assemblies.

My goal is to get adjustable reach, folding and a bit shorter.

I'm looking at this set: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121831131454...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
They are for a 7/8"/22mm bar which my 2016 RX3 has.
They have 10mm bolt threads for mirrors which matches the RX3. Hoping it's the same pitch!
They have a 10mm hole for the clutch cable ferrel to slide into and I measured mine and it's 9mm and the ferrel itself is 8mm. Should be fine with a little slop...It has some now anyway.
It has a 10mm connection for the brake Banjo.
Other measurements are in the pictures on the link.

1 - Is a 10mm brake banjo correct for the RX3?
2 - All brake banjo's I've seen others speak about also have the brake banjo connector coming out the side instead of the front. What have others done to resolve the positioning? See below for pic of this new lever and the stock RX3 to compare?
3 - Any other questions, comments or concerns you may have with this selection?

Thanks so much for the help!

Shorter......cut the ball-ends off.

Folding......get wrap-around handguards and you don't need foldable.

Adj. reach....... ?

2 out of 3 ain't bad.... ;)

Funny but reach is high on the list

I would not bother at this time.

Most, if not all of these adjustable clutch and brake assembly replacements are designed for people with large hands. In other words, they start at the current OEM lever position when on the lowest setting and extend the levers out from there. You are looking for the opposite of that and none of them seem to be catering to people with small hands right now. I tried a set off of Amazon and they were actually farther than stock at their lowest setting.

As for just the levers, no one has found any that interchange.

I would not get the specific lever assemblies in your eBay link, due to the fact that the clutch assembly is a one piece design that would necessitate removal of the left hand grip and switch gear to install.

That's really great info. Thank you! I'll hold off on them.

I did these and really like them.

Yes, the banjo is 10mm....but it's a different thread on these levers. The levers came with everything including a new banjo bolt and crush washers so that's no biggy. The mirrors went right back on and no problems with the clutch cable either. Just make sure you unhook it from down below upon install. Also, they came with a small bag of electrical connectors to hook up your brake light and clutch switch but I didn't need them. The stockers slipped right on.

They are shorter. Two to three fingers work well. They are adjustable but I have one adjusted all the way out and the other all the way in. Probably just my screwed up hands. As "Working ZS" says though, I do have largish hands. I have no reach issues with them. I can see how someone with smaller hands may.

I was very impressed by the overall quality of them and especially how they look. Of course I went with the blue trim as I have a white/blue RX3. My only (minor) gripe is that they came on the "seriously slow boat from China."

fjmartin 12-01-2016 11:36 AM

Thanks for posting the info and pics. Looks good! If only the reach could be brought in closer than stock on the brake side I would do this.
