Risers?
 

Has anyone installed risers on their RX3s? I'm a shorty - short-ish legs (29" inseam) and shorter torso (5'3" height) and usually need risers on my bikes (Triumph Tiger 800 & BMW F650gs).

Looking to see if anyone has needed risers and what options they've found that work for them.

I'm sure you will receive answers from others who have put risers on, I haven't needed them.

However the Cyclone is a pretty well laid out bike that a lot of riders of varying heights are finding comfortable. You might wish to lower yours, either by adjusting the rear spring preload or going serious and adding the optional 1" lowering link. CSC isn't showing any affiliates in CT, but I think we have someone here that is in your area.

If you've run a Tiger 800 and BMW F bike, you will be happily surprised with the RX3 and how it handles & performs. Light, too.

Hi Jay and thank you for the welcome! Not a fan of lowering links - alters geometry of the bike too much and I will use my RX3 for dirt road touring so need as much ground clearance as possible. Ordered the narrow seat and also have Daytona boots which should fit the bill to get the balls of my feet on the ground.

However, after two back surgeries, I'm going to need to make sure my back is not at too much of a forward angle - need as standard of a seating position as possible as I am planning 300 mile days on the dirt with this bike so must be comfortable. Hoping I can get some suggestions on riser choices from anyone who has tried them.

I installed a set of 1" risers on my RX3 to make it more comfortable to ride in standing postion.

Works well for me. I am 5' 7".

Dan - what type of risers did you go it - straight up or rotating (like Rox)?

DSChic, I installed 7/8" risers on my RX3 that are just a simple round bushing that goes under the handle bar clamps. I needed to get longer bolts to replace the original ones. I think 1" is about as high as you can go before the cables get to tight. I'm 5'6" 28" inseam and I have the lowering link and lowered the forks down also. I'm always on the short side of bikes it seems. Heres a pic of how I did mine, rj

Wondering if the cables will be long enough for a pair of 1" ROX risers so I can pull the bars back towards me more. Your thoughts?

Just a generic set of billet aluminum risers. No adjustability. The cables were long enough so there was no problem with that amount of change. I'm not sure if the cables are long enough to also move the bars forward or not. It's late and it's cold and I'm too lazy to go out to the garage to look at the bike. . .

I would guess that they would be long enough but you may need to get under the gas tank and free up the cables to get more slack in them or reroute them so they don't bind when turning bars fully to one side or the other, rj.

I believe several people have installed the 30mm, Tusk handlebar risers without any problems. You need to get the 1-1/8 inch, big bar adapters. ;)

I too have the Tusk Risers on mine, no issues with the cables

I also used the same risers as Spud

That makes 3 of us (so far) with the Tusk risers - no issues, enough slack in cables, so no movement / re-routing of cables required.

But how about moving back vs. straight up?
 

Really need to understand available cable clearance as Rox Risers are over an inch - the tusks are of no use to me as they don't bring the bars back towards the rider, only up.

It seems I always have a slightly different experience than everyone else.

When I installed the Tusk 30mm 1 1/8" risers, I could not center the handlebars because the throttle and brake lines were too tight.

I moved the throttle cable and brake line outside the plastic shroud surrounding the ignition key, and all was good.
