CBS produced ? :hmm: some back lot studio city California deal, I don't know? It better be done right . Star trek discovery |
I'd like that.
The key is to avoid the trap of so much action/violence/sex/special effects but to focus on relationships personalities and concepts. That is the key difference between Star Trek and 'sci-fi' in general. Just saw the new movie on Sunday and I loved it. This new movie series is the best, IMHO. |
but isn't the new series the epitome of "much action/violence/sex/special effects"
and yes I like it a lot also |
Not the epitome but yes.
That was my main criticism. This was first Star Trek I recall that was overtly gory and overly violent. The action was so manic in places it reminded me more of Star Wars. Quite ADD in places. Special effects in and of themselves are nice but not a substitute for plot and direction/acting. Sex is not an issue with Star Trek, IMHO. The character development and consistancy of the relationships is what I like. I relate especially to McCoy. |
I know what you are saying. These action flicks are going 10,000 mph. Seems like they want to make every moment a cliffhanger (natural evolution in one up man ship in the action genre) . Soon dulls the senses. I like it still , may have to go check out beyond and pound down some popcorn.:hi:

"Just saw the new movie on Sunday and I loved it."
I saw Star Trek Beyond also. Capt Kirk was a pretty good motorcycle rider in it. In my opinion, the Star Trek movies mostly emphasize the original Star Trek characters. The newer TV series seek to create new, memorable characters,to really grow the franchise. Just an observation. |
My son and I watched Beyond at the premiere, we loved it as well! When we watched the first movie with the new characters we weren't too sure about it, but now we love the new ship and characters!
Interested to see what this new TV series will be like, will check it out with an open mind :). |
