China Bikes hold their value...
It is encouraging in a way though.
These bikes don't seem to depreciate as much as the Japanese ones for some odd reason. :D |
:o
I'm going to put my Hi Bird up for sale and, hopefully, turn a big profit. $$$ |
The guy's still trying for $2000. I don't get it!! :?

one possible reason for high prices on craigs list is people like me who want instant gratification and seen the bike but didnt have the cash and the dealer says well we offer financing and then your stuck with a 4 year loan and payments of $128 a month then you realise damn im stuck with this underpowered crapocycle for the next 4 years and the only way out is to pawn it off on some other sucker so i can pay it off and get me a bigger nicer bike.. just my .02 cents
lf250B for sale $3200 (and yes thats my payoff) |
I found the winner...

Ninja 250's, for example. The newly styled 08's MSRP was $3500, but it was common to see them listed at $5k last summer. Partially due to a lack of supply for this particular example, but not so for a 650R I found last week. An 07 listed for $6200 when the 09's are on the showroom floor at $6700 MSRP. I exchanged a few emails with that owner and was never once given a reason as to why it was listed for more than $2k over it's book value. It has since been dropped to an asking price of $5k, but that's still high. :? I finally sent details of several equally nice bikes at much lower prices and told the owner to look at something other than what they had invested because depreciation is a fact, and I am not responsible for their interest payments. If I'm not getting the luxury of the loan, why should I pay the interest? Now, if these owners were willing to finance that high price (as it was done for them), I think they'd have a chance of getting most of their money back (eventually). My peeve w/ CL is the ads w/o pictures or much needed information...like Manufacturer, model, year, mileage and price. They think "nice motorcycle, looks great!" is somehow enough information. And then get lippy when everyone asks them the same questions...what year? what size? how many miles? got any pics? And then there's the "pictures available on request". I request and get "give me a number to send the pics". Psst...hey, buddy....try sending them to the email address I just used to request said pictures. Even if I could get pictures on my phone (the phone is capable, but my plan is not...I'd have to pay extra) I wouldn't want them on the phone because it would be too small to see any detail. Is email the outdated technology already? 8O Sorry for the short rant. I spend too much time window shopping on CL. |
