Cruise Control / Throttle Lock for RX3

The NEP Model CC-2 cruise control fits the RX3 as if it was designed for the bike. This is for a single-cable Yamaha with 7/8" bars, and it clips over the RX3's throttle cable perfectly. The only thing you'll need to do is install new grips, as the throttle side grip doesn't leave enough space between the grip and the housing. The grip is also not removable without destroying it, it's glued on far too strongly. I got ever-so-slightly shorter grips and they fit perfectly on the throttle tube, leaving just enough space for the throttle lock.

I'd post pics, but the forum is broken. I posted them on the ADVRider thread and the facebook page.

Instead of getting new grips and fighting the old ones off, can you just cut around the stock grips and cut off the big flange end then remove 3/8" -1/2" from the left side of grip around the tube. Then install CC and replace the large flange donut or even leave it off? rj

You can, but it'd look like shit.

There is a plug on the bottom of the right switch block. We remove it and see that the through hole goes to the mechanism for winding the gas cable onto the handle. We select a bobbin screw according to the thread size and length. When twisting, it blocks the throttle handle a little. This is enough to keep her. Simple cruise control.

FYI, looking at the design of the RE3/SG400, the same NEP throttle lock that works for the RX3 should work on it as well. Again, you will need new grips.

Dear friend. There are only 10 RX3 units in Russia. There are no official dealers at all. Accordingly, there is no tuning. It is very long and expensive to order parts from Europe or the USA. You have to invent yourself.

This is what I have on all my bikes. It's super easy to reach up and roll the throttle forward when I want to turn it off, and it doesn't require any modification of the grips.

You can find it on the ProCycle website, about halfway down this page:

I hate any throttle device that takes up my grip space and interferes with my levers. The NEP lock does neither. The little rotating thing is a great option too, very cool idea. But I'll never use something like the go cruise.

Glad you found something you like. Wish you all the best with it.

I use this on my street bike. If you put a piece of tape on the leading edge it keeps it from scratching up your brake lever.

What i have done is snug the bar end weights or mirrors up against the throttle grip. It puts just enough pressure to hold my throttle in any position i leave it yet it's still rotates easily. You will have to play with it a little until you get the pressure set just right. Cost nothing but a little time. ;)

smart and simple solution. But not suitable for RX3 off-road use and short distances.

muhoboy 10-22-2021 01:00 PM

I came up with and installed cruise control, only for long distances on asphalt. Traveled over 2000 miles on good roads. For off-road conditions it is harmful and dangerous! There you need to work very actively with the throttle! And poison the clutch! Only on the asphalt!
