Hawk 250

I purchased a new Hawk 250 from txpowersports.com last Sunday, I received it at my house on Wednesday. No complaints about that. It came in late in the day so I only removed the cardboard to see the cycle packed inside of a metal shipping pallet.

I have been busy at work and haven't had any time Thursday or Friday to begin assembling it. Saturday I had some free time so I got started on it and I have assembled most of it. All that is left is the front blinkers, mirrors, headlamp assembly. I should get that done after work tonight.

I did find that I am missing the heat shield body piece. The missing piece is the silver muffler cover / protector. I sent an email to sales@txpowersports.com this morning. I will see how soon they reply. Hopefully they ship one out at no cost.

I have a couple of questions:
1. Does anyone know of a skid plate that bolts up to the frame? It can be a universal one. I just want some kind of extra protection between a rock and the engine.

2. What about aftermarket brake pad? How much of a clone is the brake calipers that I can go to the local Japanese dealer and pick up a new set?

3. Aftermarket or factory (Japanese) clutch disks? Again, can I pick up a set at the local Japanese dealer or internet order?

4. I haven't taken a look at the air filter yet. Is it something that I can buy at the local auto parts store (Autozone, Napa, ect...). I know I should have taken a look at it.

Thanks in advance

Welcome; we are glad you joined us. :hi:

Are your front brake pads shaped like hockey pucks? If so, I can share some vendor links with you. :)

Spud,

I took a look at my front brake pads and they are shaped like a regular car brake pad, long and skinny, maybe 50% the size.

After googling Honda NXR BROS 150cc brake pads the motorcycle that a lot of people say the Hawk is a clone of. Those pads might just be what pads on the Hawk. I will have to double check the next time I have the front wheel off.

If it makes you feel any better, these china bikes are lightweight, therefore the brake and clutch pads seem to last "almost" forever. I've owned these type bikes for years and many thousands of miles and have never replaced a brake pad or clutch....

Ebay is a good source for parts, I'm sure they are listed, the trick is finding them through different key word searches, like "200cc dirt bike brake pads"

maybe these?

Well while cleaning up all of the packing material in my garage I came across the missing muffler piece.

I guess I will worry about the brakes and clutch disks whenever that day will come.

Just a quick update.

I got my Hawk registered and got a plate yesterday. I went to the Revenue office at the State Police headquarters in Little Rock (I live in Arkansas) on my way home from work.

The lady there only had to ask me a few questions, what state did it come from, and what was the displacement other than those items it went really smoothly.

She said I will receive my Title in 3 to 6 weeks.

Good for you.

Terrific!

Are you able to ride it until the title arrives, or are you required to wait?

I am able to ride it!

I am going to bring this thread back. It's a few months old but I am looking for a skid plate. Did you ever find one that was a fit? Looks like the CSC one for the TT250 mostly fit.s. But wondering if there is anything cheaper.

Wolftrax made this out of a Walmart cutting board, I stole his idea.
