Don't forget your rubbers!

Do your panel grommets look like this?

If so, then I invite you to a welcome replacement and upgrade ala the GL1800 goldwing. https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/A...m/refuge02d-20
All credit for this goes to ChrisWNY, whom hasn't posted in almost a year now, but it was his post that directed me to them. I feel it was worthy to bring it back up again because they worked incredibly well.

Not only are they a much firmer rubber, but they fit the holes on the Hawk beautifully.

The ovals fit the tank oval hole perfectly.

And the Round ones fit the rear.

Panel fits nice and snug now where the old ones allowed for a lot of movement. Worth the 8 bucks.

This plagued me yesterday, and I was sitting there wondering which Honda bike I had seen them before.

Thanks

There is probably more than one, but these are definitely the most convenient ones to get. 2 oval, 2 round, and one extra slot one I Just tossed in my bucket of useful random bits for later.

Excellent! I was just about to post and see anyone knew where to get some! I spray silicone on all the rubbers hoping to help them last.

8 bucks for a 5 pack.... my spidey senses are tingling, there must be a cheaper DIY solution.

The McMasters link might be the ticket - qty of 50 for $8

I need to search around the house :)

Thanks for sharing and catching my wife's eye with the thread title

You can likely find some grommets that work at a local hardware store as well.

Personally I like the form fit oval ones for the oval tank holes. The tank grommets are the ones that get destroyed the fastest because they are pinched by sharp sheet metal. The oval ones in the pack I used are a perfect fit and I suspect will last a lot longer.

To each their own in the end.

I've used the grommets from Lowes but can see where the oval ones would work better.

Well, I can let you know for sure. I have replaced the tank grommets 4 times now. Using round ones from the hardware store the previous times. These grommets are a much firmer rubber and fit the holes exactly, so I am hoping that helps them live a longer life before being shredded.

The hawk i just picked up needs new ones. I was going to order them from csc with some other odds and ends but the Honda ones are likely much better quality. Actually the vtx needs two also so that would work out well.

Now that my grandsons are outgrowing granddaddy I am really missing my VTX but I am not sure if my nerves would take it, I just had a friend have to take to the median to keep some idiot from running over him. He slid with the bike and came out of it beat up but nothing broken. I forgot to ask him if he was wearing a helmet. when we rode together he seldom did.

I got ran off the road last week by some lady passing a scooter and not caring who was in the oncoming lane. I only had to take the outside of the road, the car behind me almost ended up in the ditch. I always ride with a full face and armored textile jacket and pants in case i get to go pavement sledding.

I enjoy the vtx. I inherited it from my mom when she passed. Not a huge cruiser guy but its comfortable to ride and a bit more exciting then the storm.

Yeah, it really helps owning a Honda. My VFR uses 4 of the oval ones as well, so I might just order a 10 pack of them and stash them away.

you know harbor freight sells rubber grommets in the
nuts-and-bolts-and-washers-and-anything-else-that-will-fit-in-a-little-whitish-clear-divided-plastic-case-assortment-section

......i have them and though i cannot fully recommend them for durability.....they do work.... for a while anyway.
