Hi Bird

I have an 2006 250 Hi Bird when I pull the clutch lever it seams that it don't go far at all when I look at the lever on case. I looked at the cable and lever an it looks like I need a new one does anyone know where and what one I should get and how to adjusted when it comes time?

Thanks

Before buying new parts, have you tried lubricating the cable? I use a cable luber and Maxima Chain Wax on cables. Here's a decent luber: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motion-Pro-C...98f9d5&vxp=mtr

Lubricating the cable can make all the difference.

Once the cable is lubed, shoot for about 1/4" of freeplay gap, as measured between the hand lever and the perch it is mounted on.

The end of the cable housing isn't sitting in the adjuster at the hand lever. Did you pull the housing out for the pic? Also, the adjuster is turned all the way in.

Set the cable housing inside the adjuster, and back out the adjuster to keep some tension on it. Try to establish about 1/4" of freeplay between the lever and the perch.

No that's the way it's been ever since I bought it. It just feels like it's not doing anything when I squeeze it and put it in gear it just jumps. As you can see he had a bolt in the handle that's not the right one.

Well I oiled the cable this weekend it pulls smoother then it did tried to adjust it but it will only move the clutch a small amount I thinking I need a new cable like to get a new handle too what is the wiring coming out of the handle for and where would be a good place to get the parts at? Here are few pictures first is how far it moves before it grabs the 2nd is all the way. Hope you can tell at the end of the cable how far it goes by the pictures.

It also appears you have a considerable mount of adjustment available where the cable attaches to the motor case before the shift lever. But it does look like you need a new cable given the condition of that rubber boot.

I was going to say the same thing. Try backing out the adjuster that is above the clutch cover on the engine.

The wire is a switch, and it's designed to not allow electric start unless the clutch is pulled in.
