Hawk air filter

Where is a good place to get hawk intake air filter?

Emerikol 05-19-2018 10:43 PM

Most people change them out with a K&N filter from Amazon. I put a pod filter on mine. Depends on what you're looking for. Do you want to replace the stock filter, or go with a high-flow aftermarket unit?

I just switch over to a pod filter. I don't have the part number but Home Depot and Lowes carry a Briggs and Stratton air filter that fits. Take the old one with you and match it up.

I am almost 100% certain the TT250 uses the same air filter. $5.97 through CSC.

I'm going to resurrect an old thread to ask about the Pod filters you guys are running. Did you make any changes to the jet sizes/needle position when changing from the airbox to the foam filter?

I'm thinking the following setup will work well but am concerned about melting my piston from a lean condition:

- UNI Pod filter (Oil wetted foam)
- Mikuni VM26 (110 main jet, 30 pilot jet, needle set to middle)
- Stock engine
- Stock exhaust

I'm at 900' elevation. Thanks for any help you can offer, I'm sifting through all the threads that come when searching for "pod filter"...

I wish I could help you but I swapped to a different carb at the same time I went to a Oiled foam pod filter. But more than likely you will need to up it a little. I see you are still running stock exhaust. Did you remove the cat?

The cat is still there, I have an angle grinder but am not a good welder and haven't found a good one yet, and the friend whose bike it is is fairly cheap, so the $100 exhaust is a tough sell. For now operate under the assumption that the stock exhaust with cat is what we'll be going with.

welding the nasty china metal is a bugger. im a fair welder not pro and it beat me. i tried the widow cutout but most said just cutting it all out and replacing with a piece of pipe welded easier if you end up doing it.

Gotcha, well I'm glad I haven't attempted it yet then! I'm still hoping someone who's running pods on a mikuni VM26 carb will chime in with their jet sizes and altitude. Anyone?

I welded mine up with my HF MIG welder set on a low setting and welded up pretty easy. I wouldn't try to stick weld it though. It will blow holes quick.

stick was all i had amd it was no fun. another hour and i could of got it sealed up:lmao:
