Mikuni VM26 8000 feet elevation what main jet?

Well its starting to get warm here (40deg) so its time to get to work. I just had my new wheels trued. Only cost me $39 for both. l Have the new after market muffler installed and I have a foam filter for the Mikuni. Now Iam re-jeting the new carb. I live at 8500 feet and ride at above 7000, any idea what my main jet should be? Any of you Hi Lander's have any advice for me? :hmm:

Try it with the stock 100/20 that the Mikuni comes with (it's too lean for my 3000' elevation).....then move down from there. You are WAY up there. I think Rojo Grande may have some good input on this.

I found a formula for this assuming a known good setup. It's scaled by elevation and percent.

Merlin,
I'm currently running the mikuni with stock 100/20 jetting. I'm in Parker, CO at ~6,000 feet and it seems to be a good set up. I am using the stock air box and filter. I do have the aftermarket pipe and muffler a lot of people are using. Still running the 17/50 gearing.

This summer I'll be taking the bike up to higher elevations (9,000 - 13,000) when the snow clears so I may adjust from there. But think the adjustment will be minimal. Did have the TT up over Webster Pass this past summer 12,300 ft and Loveland Pass as well. No problem.

Thanks guys. I have 110 installed now. I haven't tried it out yet. Should be able to try it in the next few days. My stock Klein worked fine up to 3/4 throttle then it would start sputtering. Seemed to me like it needed more gas.

Had a similar issue with the stock TT250 carb. A little hesitation at 3/4+ to WOT. Swapped to the mikuni, issue gone. I did see the following in another thread.

Adjust the float level to allow more fuel into bowl seems to be the ticket.
