125A starter on/off with key? HELP!

so spring is here and yesterday I got out my daughters 125a. Turn the key on and the battery is dead (after trickle charging it over night). I then tested the battery and it was shot. Went down to the battery store and bought a new one, came home and put it in. Turn the key on and the starter comes on for some reason and stays on until you turn the key off. Side note, Even though the start comes on the engine won’t actually start for some reason, I didn't try turning they key on and while the starter is on hit the start button. I tried some troubleshooting shooting and one thing I noticed is if I unplug the black box (that’s in front of the steering column) I can turn the key on and all the lights come on like normal so the battery is good, I can then jump the stater and she starts and runs so I’m wondering what that black box does and if this is a problem anyone else has had and how I should go about fixing it?

Like Bruces, guessing that you have a remote start. If so, check to see if the button on the remote and/or the main starter button are stuck on.

Ok so I just tried what the first two responses said with no luck. I plugged the black box back in and it still has the same symptoms (key on turns starter on) so then I unplugged the electric start switch and from the wiring harness and turned the key on and it still is turning the starter on. As for a remote starter, it had one at one point. A couple of years ago the fab got ran over buy my truck and was crushed. After the fab was destroyed the four wheeler ran fine for at least 2 years with out it so I don’t believe that is the problem. Thank you for your speedy replies.

Check your solenoid. It might be stuck on, the nuts on top may be touching, or the plastic "wall" separating the two red starter wires may be gone allowing the wires to touch.
