Thanks! "I love it when a plan comes together!"

So far, so good. No oil or coolant leaks. I've started and run it a few more times over the past few days. I need to dial in the carb. Still running lean. Can't touch the throttle once it starts and is idling or it'll stall. After it warms up, I can rev it... but is definitely lean above idle. Plug reflects that.

I bought a 10pc main jet and 10pc pilot jet set for the PZ30 carb I have. While I await that, I plan to start drilling out the jets I have. Currently I have a #40 pilot... which I feel is close.... but the ~#105-ish main I have is too lean. Annoyingly... my small drill bits go from 1.00mm (#100) to 1.20mm (#120)... so no granularity in between. That's why I finally ordered the full jet set to better dial it in. I may just drill out my main to a #120 and verify that it's too rich as I await the slow-boat with my jets.

I did happen upon the VIN number. Stamped into the leftside frame near the footpegs.

Excellent! Do you have a link to the parts you bought?

These are the jet sets I've bought for tuning my PZ30 Keihin-clone carb

Still awaiting jets... but decided to try drilling my existing ones a little fatter.

Gotta say, dropping the bowl on the ATV is a lot easier than on the moto.

Took my #40 pilot and opened it up to ~#45 (.45mm).
Took my ~#110 main and opened it up to ~#120 (1.2mm).

These changes made a pretty nice improvement. No more stalls if you touch the throttle while warming up... and it ran very well. No breaking up in the higher RPMs. Plug shows better... but still not quite tan enough color I'd like to see... but much better than before. Think I'll put in true 45/120 jets when I get my kit...and lift the needle one slot higher. That should get it very close to the sweet spot.

Strapped/bungied a lid to the rear to hold my battery so I could put the seat on this time. Rode it all over the yard... with a big smile on my face!

Next up... finalize jets/tune. Inspect and adjust brakes. Then bodywork time.

Cheers!

Got all my jets in the mail. Time for the next tuning step. Pulled the carb bowl and took out my existing jets. I installed a real (non-drilled) #45 pilot and a #125 main. Left the needle in the middle groove. Popped the bowl back on and it was time to fire it up. Started straight away with no choke (was 70deg outside)... and idled well. I let it warm up a bit then adjusted the idle screw into a higher idle. I next adjusted the air mix screw. I was able to turn the mix screw in a little bit to achieve the best idle. I'll note it's exact position when I finalize tuning. Running great. Starts instantly from off too. I think my carb tuning is getting pretty close now.

Cheers!

I need to dial my quad in like that.
