CF Moto V3 crankcase
Hello,
New guy here. I'm rebuilding a 2004 V3 and the left side crankcase is missing a piece of the fin/baffle that is located under the crankshaft. Anyone have any experience or advice on how to proceed? Option 1: put it back together and don't worry Option 2: wait until a used one becomes available on the market Option 3: have a new fin welded or bolted in Option 4: modify a CN250 crankcase w/the existing V3 crankcase This is my last hurdle, any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks! Rich |
Welcome, Rich!
Please show us a pic. Perhaps we can find something else that is a match. |

This is a pic of the left side crankcase. You can see the missing piece (jagged edge.) Am I worried about nothing?
(Second pic is stock photo of right side crankcase. You can see the baffle/fin in it's entirety. Thx, Rich |

Sorry, this left side

I'm failing to see the jagged piece, and I'm blaming that on my crummy monitor. Can you put a circle around it?

better?
|
Yes, I see it now.
I wouldn't hesitate to smooth out the area with a Dremel, apply Three Bond (or similar) as a liquid gasket material to what is left of the gasket surface and use it. |

Okay, got the crankcase together. Any idea what parts #5 & 6 do?
Kept coming out on the last build. |
Not looking familiar to me. May we see a pic of how they attach and what they look like?

hey weld that wouldn't be a centrifugal oil filter like on the Cg engines would it?

I'm still not quite there, but at least I can now see we're not looking at the stator side.

There's no bar on the new crankshaft for it to grab onto, so I'm going to leave it off. Honda shop manual calls it an oil orifice.
Can anyone tell me how me how to tighten the flywheel? The variator is also off if that helps. (When I was dis-assembling, the rod had come loose and prevented the crankshaft from turning, so I didn't have these issues.) Thanks! |
