To Do -

Rejetting

Luckily the Manx weather held up for me to spray outside!!! A rare thing... Unfortunately I can't ride it at the moment with out the jetting - waiting on the postman.

Sweet bike!

I failed to realize before that you have an OHC engine; that's worth another hp and a few more revs over the pushrod version. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the CDI, once you have the jetting sorted.

I really like that colour. Please let us know how Plastidip stands up to petrol.

I'm quite envious of V-Raptor owners. We don't get that bike where I live.

You did great! I especially like your paint job.

I am impressed with the quality of construction of your V-Raptor. I also wish we could get these motorcycles in the United States. :)

Thanks,

The jets arrived in the post today. I put the 110 jet in place.

The bike is fine up to the late throttle where it sort of hiccups and the power comes off. Is that because the mix is too rich?

I may phone the local garage and ask him to teach me how to tune the carb properly. I'll have to wait a few days though as the Manx GP on and loads of people are at the garage....

I don't really get the spark plug thing either... Mine is really black, which I think means rich, but I'm not sure which to change the Needle, the small jet or the main.

On the plus side I do feel like I've accomplished something though. Its much easier to work on than my BMW.

Weldangrind 08-27-2014 03:30 PM

Does it hiccup as if it's running out of fuel? If so, I'd say it needs a fatter jet, like a 112.5. I'm running a 112.5 on my 200cc bike, and it's 23cc smaller than yours.

If the plug is black after idling, you're not getting an idea of how it's running at WOT.

PLEASE take Manx GP pics for us! You live on holy ground, and we must live vicariously through you. :D

TastyRabbit 08-27-2014 05:27 PM

Its not the TT it's the Grand Prix, so its a little less exciting...

Once its over I can run my bike flat out on the road to get the max speed though. We don't have speed limits. It should make tuning easier.

Weldangrind 08-28-2014 10:44 AM

Indeed! I recommend a full throttle plug chop, to see what the fuel needs are at speed.

Wow that's a nice bike
I'm jelous lol

Hi again,

I've tried the following jets now - main

110 - small hiccups
116 - medium
120 large
104 - tiny hiccups

I think its too rich.... Is that possible after changing the air filter and exhaust!!! The plug is black on full throttle....

I have convinced myself the holes on the 102 stock is actually smaller than it reads.

Weldangrind 08-30-2014 03:40 AM

You could certainly drop the $40 USD and buy a Mikuni. Much easier to get jets for, and the jet system is logical.

When you say the plug is black on WOT, did you do an actual plug chop? Was it with a new plug?

Changing the air filter and exhaust to free-breathing parts would create a lean condition.

TastyRabbit 08-30-2014 05:12 AM

No I just clean it and take it out to check the color/

pete 08-30-2014 06:04 AM

pilot jet maybe the issue...
the pilot jet dosn't suddenly stop feeding
fuel when the needle & main jets start working
as most think...

the TTR250 is a prime eg...
they come with 2 jet combinations..
40/138 or 38/142 both combinations
surply that same amount of fuel at
full throttle the 40/138 is used in colder climates
to make starting / cold running better..

Since you have access to roads with no speed limit, I recommend a WOT plug chop. It will give you a better idea of what's really happening.

TastyRabbit 08-30-2014 05:04 PM

I don't want to buy another Spark Plug. They don't have anymore in the shop. I'll have to order more online.

TastyRabbit 08-31-2014 12:39 PM

Plasti Dip doesn't like petrol.
