How bad does the orange color fade?

I don't like a yellow bike, and I've heard the orange fades pretty badly. Does anyone have pics of the difference? If it's going to fade into yellow, I'll get the gold one, as it looks more or less white from the photos.

Too bad there's no red model...

2018 models do not come in Orange. My 2016 is Orange and does not appear to be fading. The 2015 model Orange seemed to fade quite a bit. I believe Zongshen started using either a better quality paint in 2016 or a UV resistant clear coat. In 2018 they do not have red but are offering copper.

Okay, "copper". It still looks orange to me.

The paint fade was only on the 2015 Orange model. They failed to use a UV protector on it. No one can comment on the 2018 as no one has one yet but I doubt they'll make that mistake again.

I can vouch for the 2016 orange not fading. Kind of cool it's not available anymore. I feel like one of the lucky ones ^_^

Charles, you made it over, I see.
Yes, the orange fade issue is gone, a 2015 year model problem.

BTW, fjmartin (Joe) put over 20.000 miles on his RX3.

rjmorrow (Rob) did and IB SS1000 on his. That's 1000 miles in 24 hours.

Okay cool. I actually prefer the copper color, but was thinking the gold is close to white, and white hides scratches easier, and with the fade issue that bumped me to get the gold instead.

How much are replacement painted parts, out of curiosity? I mean, if it's a couple hundred bucks to swap out all the plastics, I could just keep changing the color every year! :D

Yep, I made it over... haven't bought one yet. Will probably do so in fall of this year. I just bought a new bike in November 2017, but I'm really amped up about this little RX3, and I'm going to have to buy one before 2018 is over.

Plastics are CHEAP to replace. When I first got my bike I had scratched up the right side plastic where the head badge goes and purchased a replacement. Every inexpensive. All the parts are listed on the CSC website so you can look...even do some mix and match.

The most expensive painted part is the gas tank itself...about $225. That's inexpensive for a painted steel tank. The RX3S is supposed to carry an added gallon of fuel. If it fits my RX3 and is priced in that same ballpark I'd be tempted to get the larger tank, particularly if the larger tank had a broader surface for my magnetic tank bag. 300+ mile range would not be shabby either.

My orange 2015 is fading pretty badly. I will say that it doesn't help that all of my riding is at high altitude in bright sun. Does anyone know if CSC has been making good on this? At least giving a discount on replacement plastics or tank?

It has nothing to do with how the bike operates, and the 2015's are all out of warranty anyway, I just had my body guy repaint my parts in Lamborghini Orange Metallic :)

I have a 2015 orange that is fading. I don't care as it's provided me with plenty of fun and smiles so I forgive it. I'm not planning on putting it in a museum anyway. rj

I've seen a couple 2015s in orange with serious fade. Never noticed fade of other colors or years. No fade on my red 2015, but it is stored indoors and is knocking on just 10,000 miles since I work on the road and do not ride nearly enough.

Fade wouldn't matter, anyway. My son learned to repair, customize, refinish and custom paint from me before reinforcing his skills at WYOTECH. He has been referred to in a couple of enthusiast magazines as one of the world's finest refinishers/custom painters in the aftermarket. Check out the gloss black 1955 Chevrolet pickup on the cover and centerfold of the November 2014 Classic Trucks magazine. There are a couple Fords on the August 2018 cover of the same magazine. On one he just did paint, on the other he did body mods and paint. Would I feel guilty putting such a paint job on a Chinese motorcycle? Well, not this one considering the quality of the CSC people and all the improvements since 2015 that have become standard.
