Oil Draining from Tappet

Is it normal for oil to flow/drain out of the bottom tappet when you take off the bolt?

On a 125cc

So you can only Adjust the bottom valve with the oil drained?

You can cheat and wheelie the bike onto a table or something while you adjust the valve , but yes some oil will be dripping out .Since the bike only takes a litre or so ,it’s usually not a big deal to drain it out and replace it at the same time .

was working on the cam timing, put everything back on and new oil and forgot to adjust values. I had a tapping sound at the head? i think from not adjusting the values.

You can drain it into a clean container easy enough .

And re-use it if it’s fresh .
