Electric 5 Speed Motorcycle
In China and got to test ride a new electric motorcycle. As most of you know gas motorcycles are banned in many cities of China. So you are seeing a lot of companies switch from gas production to electric vehicle production. The amount of R&D on electric vehicles in China is unbelievable!.
Fun ride  Got about 65 miles before it stopped. It does warn you ahead time.Started telling me at about 50 miles. As you can see in the picture they used the Tricker frame. I think if they used more aluminum and try to shave off some weight it could go more miles. Over all not a bad start China. Oil Cooled Gearbox: 5 speed Power: 10kw Battery Type: Co-Mn-Ni lithium battery Battery Capacity: 72V40Ah Charging Time: 3.5Hours Input Voltage: 110V-220V Front Brake: Disc Brake Rear Brake: Disc Brake Front Wheel: 80/100-18 Rear Wheel: 110/80-17 http://pictures.diycycles.us/Electric_Moto.jpg Side note: I am starting to see major changes here in the motorcycle business and it's not good. One example is companies that are trying to stay in the motorcycle business ( and it's getting harder every day) are claiming they are a manufacturing company, many are not! Buyer Beware If you source from China ask to see the factory. Many are just trading companies or assemblers. If they are a true manufacturing company they love to show you the factory and all the tooling. Websites like Alibaba and Made-In-China are not helping the situation, with a whole lot of fake companies on the websites. Buyer Beware! |
Why does it have a gearbox?

Trying to use part of the gearbox technology used in Formula E race cars they say, it's NOT |
There was a guy who was a member on mychinamoto who was one of the founders of this company
http://www.electroforcemotors.com/ They have been working on these for a few years now, so are probably okay. |
Okay, did not read the fine print and now see that they are no longer in business...

Another drill baby drill casualty.

I made a mistake--the company that still has the website but posted they are no longer in business is gone, but both, or one of the founders is involved in another company called Evoke Motorcycles which appears very much alive!

It will be interesting to see if hub design or gearbox design will win out It could be street hub and gearbox off road . Also another company using off the shelf parts to cut down on the cost. I don't like that hanging down. http://pictures.diycycles.us/Evoke.png |
