1977 Honda CJ360 T

I picked up a new bike today. It's a 77 Honda CJ360T. A friend of my dads and the family, and who my dad works with, and I used too, talked his brother in law into giving me the bike :o :D

He is the original owner of the bike, and has stored it indoors the whole time he's owned it. It hasn't been run since shortly after he got it. It only has I believe it was around 835 miles on it.

I'm going out of town for the weekend, so I won't be able to post any pics of it or anything, but it is in really good shape. It needs to be washed, and cleaned up a bit but looks very good.

I'm not sure what it's going to take to get it running. The tank seems like it is about half full... of 30 something year old gasoline jelly.... Any one have any tricks on turning this back into a liquid and getting it out of the tank? I need to be careful not to damage the paint. Hot water maybe?

I'll try to get some pictures and clean it up early next week. I am also still working on the cl350, I think the fuel valve may be clogged on one line.

WOW that sounds like it will be very nice once you get it all set right again.

Cant wait to see pictures of it.

I agree, sounds like a great deal! Awaiting pics when you get time as well :). As far as getting the old gas/jelly out, would it be possible to throw a little fresh gas in and slosh it around? Might thin out the old stuff enough that you can pour it out?

there use to b a carb cleaner that you could buy in 1gallon buckets. it was a carb dip called b-12 chemtool. i dont know if you can still get it but it worked great on stubborn dried 2stroke gas.

Gunk makes a version too. I bought it at advanced. I am sure it is available at whatever automotive stores are in Canada.

I wonder if there's an operation you can undergo to have the horseshoes removed from your rear end. Talk about luck!

I'm hoping for a personal viewing. :D

I'll try to get some pictures up early next week, I'm in Penticton right now.

Thanks for the tips, I'll have to give them a try. I was thinking new gas may help.

Well I haven't been back to clean it up yet, but I got the picture off my phone.

Nice looking machine. It looks like its all there which makes a big difference. I've already spent a couple of hours unsuccessfully sourcing the missing side covers for my little Honda.

Plus the 360 will be a true rider's bike more than a commuter novelty.

You may also have noticed the resurgance of interest in these old twins dut to the 'Cafe Racer' movement. :D

Yeah. To be honest I'm not sure what I want to do with it. I prefer my cl :P

Weldangrind 08-12-2011 10:53 PM

Maybe Son of Weldangrind would be interested in it.

Jim 08-12-2011 11:07 PM

Sorry Weld, if I wind up not keeping it, my sister's boyfriend already called dibs....

C'est la vie.
