From a ride last fall

NIce pics. I added some hand-guards to my bike after that last fall bent the bars in new and wonderful ways. The OEM bars are soft like butter. A real bonus was how much warmer my hands were in cold-weather riding.
I just picked up a Ricochet skid plate too. I'm really looking forward to the Spring. |
Does your Lifan know you've been cheating on her?

We have an open relationship.

Nice bike(s)! :)
I think I'd like to have one of the Super Sherpas, but then I look at the price compared to the KLR650 and wonder if I'd ever go with the smaller bike. I still want the KLE500, but I've seen street legal KLX400's, so that might be as close as I can get. So many bikes...so little time and money. |
KLR is a good all-around bike, but if you hit the woods a lot you'd better hit the Gym before hand.
The Sherpa's, the KLX, and the new WR250 strike a good compromise for an around-town bike bike and trail riding. I'd love to try the new Yamaha out. Quote:

And that's why I want something in between. I want something big enough to handle longer rides w/a bit more comfort...yet still small enough to man-handle in the woods.
I know a 250 can be ridden long distances...but I don't see anyone too eager to do it on a regular basis. It seems a 400-500 would fit the bill...but the choices are quite limited. I really do like the 250's though. :) |
I rode a TW200 last month for a week, and loved it.
I wasn't sure what it was going to be like, but one day I spent 9 hours on it, and didn't get any monkey butt until about hour 5. My neighbor has a KDX220 thats been completely rebuilt, and has a street legal ownership. I might buy that, and sell the KLX. A little 2 stroke street screamer would be fun 8) |

I do think that comfort is all a matter of mind over matter, or a matter of losing weight  |

I still want to get my wife a TW200 I think she could handle it out on the trails better than the 200gy. I wish I had a picture of my old blaster that landed upside down on a big log up in the mountains. Then the picture of the mountain side on the other side of the log that disappeared into the pines. |
Was really hoping to get a used Super Sherpa for about 2k till i saw this DR250 for 1k on ebay. Bought it only to find out (to my horror  ) that there were 2 versions, DR250 offroad and DR250s street. Mines the offroad one... A worthwile conversion and should come out well under the 2K for the Kawasaki.
The SS is still my favorite DS! Those 650's are sweet, but a little bulky for my taste. At 255lbs. the DR's about 20lbs. lighter than the SS i think. 8) |
I've been really impressed with my DR650, and it is much lighter then the KLR. Though I still prefer my Tank 200 for the mountain trails.
