I believe the China Motorcycle News is the re-named C2W.

It's a monthly online magazine with articles that give an inside look at the Chinese motorcycle industry by an "Englishman in China", Dave McMullan.

Excellent insight on the Chinese motorcycle business.

Thanks everyone. No, I'm not an importer I'm a journalist and consultant for the Chinese motorcycle industry, mainly concerning the Chongqing manufacturers but not exclusively. My wife is an exporter of the Fuego brand (Motorhead Tekken and others) and also has a moto parts business (wholesale by the container).

I've been around for many years and seen the lot in the industry

I used to produce C2W but my Chinese partners were too restricting and wanted to include articles that had nothing to do with the Chinese industry (why? Who knows?) so I broke with them to make China Motorcycle News which will always be brutally honest about the industry.

Thanks. Glad you joined. We are really getting a few professionals in our little club now (I won't name names for fear of leaveing someone out). Keep up the great threads (you know who you are ;) )

Thanks for the clarification about C2W.

I think your efforts to get the Chinese manufacturers to standardize and promote their "brand" names worldwide is right on target.

I've been nagging them (especially Loncin and Zongshen) to stop re-branding for years and now at least Zongshen have the 'Cyclone' brand.

Now all they have to do is make professional websites, care a bit more about marketing and look at their bloody emails!

If they would stand behind there warranty's and stabilize parts availability it would go a long way towards getting rid of the bad reputation Chinese motorcycles have here in the USA.

Hi David,

First I'd like to tell you that I really enjoyed your writings. The are very insightful and well written.

I was wondering if you would ever write an article from the US importers perspective. I bet there would be interest to understand what hurdles they face along with there feeling about this market in the next 5-10 years.

Adam Rinkleff is a member here and is importing the Haosen Hawk. He could provide his perspective, if he is willing.

Just an idea,
-Tony

Cyclone? Why not Zongshen? .....the name of the manufacturer....like those manufacturers do in Japan and Europe.

This is what should be on all their motorcycles..... :)

Great minds think alike--I had asked him about this on mychinamoto the other day. I suggested Joe Berk could (and probably would) do an article on bringing Zongshen to the US (once again). I also mentioned Joe's book, and Mr. McMullan thought the idea of reviewing his book was great. I PM'd Joe, so if anyone who keeps in touch with him can also get hold of him, I think Joe would be a great contributor to C2W.

Could it be that America is finally ready for a Chinese 2 wheel invasion? If it is then a lot of the credit has to go to Joe Berk and the way he has introduced the Zongshens.

Best I start wrapping up a Tekken ready to send to the States (by the way I'm taking it to the UK next January).
